I have mixed feelings about Salim's jodi with Anarkali as Anarkali is a figure based on legends and was likely to not have existed (she says while not minding the existence of Benazir in the serial 😩😂😂). that besides the point, it really did overshadow the main couple which was mostly annoying to me; the name of the series is Jodha Akbar, not Salim Anarkali. had the writers chosen to make a spinoff series with those two, I would not have minded.

and yes, they really nerfed Jodha's character in the latter part of the serial (except for the spice trade and that track where she had to serve the people following an epidemic and famine). it was like the things that made Jodha who she is were suddenly erased now that she is a mother and God do I hate the trope where a female character is suddenly reduced to that role once she has a child 😑😒

oh, he did apologize? I guess I did not pay attention or it skipped my mind 😭 but absolutely, I wanted her to bear some grudges, I wanted her to give him a few moments of silent treatment on the way to Salim Chisti, it was disappointing to see her act like all those moments of humiliation did not exist at all. and that part where she lets Ruqs treat her like she was a maid made me want to hit my head against the wall.

the writers really wrote her to be an inconsistent character, it almost like watching a pendulum except that this pendulum exists to make you annoyingly dizzy as hell. from the Jodha who is not afraid to speak her mind to the Jodha who becomes a doormat to Ruqaiya and even freaking Bakshi Bano 😒

to be honest, I blame the writers for this f*ckery. I have no issues with the jealousy and all that because to reiterate, something like this is as realistic as it is given the context but what happened to the character arc? I also understand taking artistic liberties but these are historical figures, not fictional characters. I also agree that the later part of the serial was unbearable to watch, in fact, I found myself skipping so many episodes.

It was definitely childish. The reaction of a little defiant child who doesn't get what he wants! Jealousy is not an issue, it was certainly the order of the day in a harem. But after so many years, as Khaas Begum, she should have accepted it with dignity and not humiliated herself like that.

The writers came up with this rubbish. In the end, I only skimmed through many episodes. The opening credits always point out that this series does not claim to be a historical series. Nevertheless, it is about historical figures. There were also protests from the Rajputs of Rajasthan when the series was first broadcast because of distorting historical facts.

Oh yes! That slap in the face was wonderful too 😁. Although I didn't really like this Labooni track. Again, the writers had Jodha portrayed as a weak naive woman who didn't stand up to Labooni. How easily she could have attacked Labooni with her sword and put her in her place. No, she sat before her like a rabbit before a snake.

😁

Reducing a female character to the role of housewife and mother as soon as she has a child... ah, this cliché persists so stubbornly in people's minds and is picked up again and again instead of showing strong, independent women in order to finally do away with this outdated role model. Well, the spice trade and the epidemic have put it back into perspective somewhat
