Knowing not where I walked, knowing not which direction I faced, I strayed deeper and deeper into a realm unknown. And then, when I least expected, I chanced upon a door.

'How mystical!' I thought; my cheeks drying up, my fears getting forgotten for a brief while, as the girl in me awoke. Much against what I'd been told, against what my traditions allowed, I followed an instinct and opened the door.

Through that opening flooded in a ray of light, much to my relief. And behind that light stood a stranger, I'd never expected to meet. Had I not opened the door then, I might never have survived.

That was the day, I think, I stopped looking back.
