Rather blah episode yesterday!

Friends, I found the episode yesterday rather average. The only three points to note were:
1. The Salim-Nadira confrontation at the archery/barthan shop
2. The Ruq jealousy at the closeness between Salim and Jodha and the afeem ka dibbi idea of hers to addict the child
3. Jalal crowning Salin as walihaad and responsibilities he was dumping on a "childish" boy of nine years
Out of all this, the third point was at least a wee bit interesting to me because I was thinking how sad it was to take away the childhood of Salim by putting a crown on his head and saying "From now in my absence you will have all the duties of a King".
For a while the child did not even know what a walihaad was and thought it was a punishment for stealing mangoes. And then Jalal explained to him what it meant and his response in a heart-breakingly childish way was "Till now I was responsible for my grandmother only but now I will be responsible for all". How sad!
I can understand that at his age Jalal was already being dumped similarly by Bairam Khan with the position of ruler of the Sultanate. But then I get a feeling Jalal must have been a more hardship-hardened boy than poor soft-hearted Salim is! This little walihaad looks like a baby that even the tiny Murad can gobble up with his wiliness!
Anyway, whether it also happened to Jalal or not it was sad to see Salim being saddled with the "honour" that simply weighs him down.
I can understand why Jalal had to do it though. In those days having a waaris and then investing the waaris with the walihaad position was tantamount to telling the public of the kingdom and the enemies at large that the Sultanate's ruling dynasty was intact, had a succession plan in place and couldn't be sneered at.
Now the entire value of having a walihaad on the ready is going to be ruined by Ruq's extremely ugly plan of making him an opium addict. What is worse? To have no walihaad or to have a walihaad that is an addict? Poor Jalal and Jodha seem to have no idea that the crowning of their waaris is going to concurrently turn him into maybe a "mulish and obstinate" and "suddenly belligerent child" thanks to the drugs, and for a long time Jalal and Jodha will think its because they gave him the crown that he has suddenly become a radically changed and disrespectful son!
Yesterday's spoiler that an MU is coming soon is not surprising, because I suspect that with the opium addiction, Salim's entire soft personality may change into a nasty-tempered boy, oor maybe go the entire opposite way into a sullen, dull boy disinterested in anything except the tailing of Nadira and Ruq! Jodha may blame Jalal for ruining his childhood with too early responsibilities and Jalal may blame Jodha for Salim's change in personality after the crowning.
The only hope is that (as the CV tweeted once) Ruq will try her chaals but will not be successful ... so I am hoping against hope that it means that Salim will not fall for the opium gambit! Fingers crossed, let's see ...
Already I don't find the serial interesting enough. Now to have to watch a small kid get pushed into addiction is to say the least extremely depressing. Hope Ruq is not able to make it happen ... that's the only lingering hope.
If Jodha and Jalal must have an MU let it be for some other petty reasons and not because Salim has changed into a cantankerous out-of-control kid or into a depressed dullard!
Incidentally, this actor-boy Ayan (Salim) seems to have been signed on for another historical show and that completely declares his role in JA as a cameo. This seems to me to underscore the fact that this phase of the young Salim is soon going to be changed (leaped) to show the grown Salim. What do you all think ... will this baccha phase last longer than one month before the Big Leap?

thanks Mansi for the update..I watched the episode after reading Preets Comments. I loved watching Jodha Salim bonding and brought tears to my eyes as soon as I thought about Ruks corrupting Salim. Both Pari and Ayan acted so well. Ayan is very very talented and no OTT expressions at all. He is adorable

Regarding MU between JJ, I am not surprised after what we have been dumped with lately. Its going to be painful to watch Salim getting addicted to opium and revolting against his parents.

The famous dialogue by Ruks that she has the current Shehenshah under his control and now she will get the future one too was pathetic. How low people can stoop to gain power. At the same time I am getting more and more irritated with Jodha being too goody goody with Ruks...

I guess Jalal being a doting, loving father is very strict and controlling also. I mean its good to be strict but too much control over your child will do no good. I have seen some parents who are very successful in their Career want their Kids to be like that and in turn are very strict and very controlling. This will in no way help the Kids to be successful.

Mansi, sometime back you had quoted a source of urs on the show - it does seem to have some truth - it now looks like soon we will get another epi with VO and Soul talk and the next day we will be presented with all the kids as grown ups !!! I suppose this is the weaning away period of JA for the audience !!!

The scene between Jodha and Salim was good but it was not sensationally good. It was OK. Maybe I didn't see it with blinkers because I was all the time watching this Ruq's ugly jealous expressions!😕

Adi, my source is constantly saying - and consistently saying - the BIG LEAP is end November (actually around 20th November!). I suppose that source is coming right after all! See how this Ayan boy-actor has already signed up for another show. Then how can this phase extend over six months as this Balaji fellow keeps tweeting? They are all lying through their teeth. The story already has become 90% about Samil and Anarkali and the parents are just like extras now! Why do they tell lies? What do they gain by misleading the audience? A few TRPs?😕

Mansi, thank you for presenting a very good analysis of today's episode.
The Salim / Nadira camaraderie was engaging, both the child actors have done complete justice to their roles. The little girl playing Nadira may appear high handed and bossy, but I have a soft corner for her. ( I also read in a link posted by one of our forum members, that the two little girls playing Mahtab and Nadira are sisters in real life. )

The 'crowning' ceremony confused Salim more than exciting him. The poor kid had no clue about the responsibilities accompanying the crown. He was under the impression, that he was being summoned by his abba huzoor to receive the third degree for some mischief previously committed. I do not appreciate the manner in which Salim is shown as being scared of his father. Why are all the kids in the mahal terrified of Jalal's presence?

Thanks to Sindhu, for asking me to watch todays' episode. I loved the interaction between Jodha and Salim, the love and bond between mother and child was endearing. Jodha looked lovely in the Maroon / green / gold colors. In that scene where Salim wants Jodha to sing him a lullaby, it was amply clear that Jalal wanted him to become a strong and independent prince and wean him away from Jodha's comforting motherly attentions, that he is so fond of.

I am hoping that Rukaiyya is unsuccessful in her attempts to drug Salim. I do not wish to see her drugging him at all. I hope the Creatives scrap this ghastly idea.

Hopefully, we do not have to see any more misunderstandings between Jalal and Jodha, especially caused by Rukaiyya. Haven't the Creatives tampered with and disfigured the story line enough already? Since a major leap is imminent, I wish the Creatives show us a harmonious family of Jalal, Jodha and Salim. If they plan on continuing to give prominence to Rukaiyya's wicked strategies, then they should change the title of the show to Rukiyya Akbar from Jodha Akbar.

Charu, if you keep such hopes you are bound to be disappointed. They are surely going to mess things up, thanks to Ruq being needed as the villain of the show for TRPs.

Mansi 😆😆😆 So you could not control yourself to write just the gist right? Frankly, I didn't watch the episode yesterday but satisfied my thirst with your SMS update. and from that here is my short take.
I don't think Salim will become dull due to opium intake. Either he will roar as a lion on each and everyone by talking non-sense as a person who consumes this drug will lose their sense and will and control over their tongue. And later when the effect reduces, he will become normal or sleepy. In any way the child will be either cranky or sleepy which will trigger the warning alarm to all and especially to Jodha and Jalal. Since Jodha is aware of the Ayurvedic medicines, she may realize that Salim is subjected to some drug and then the Hakima will disclose it as opium but may not know the source and mode in which it was given. So yet again they may not reach upto Ruqu to pin point her as the culprit but might take a drastic decision to send Salim away from the Agra palace, so that neither his mind nor his health is being corrupted by miscreants who doesn't tolerate the fact that Salim is the crown prince (so all the suspicious arrows will turn towards Salima & Ruksar Begum.
Or they may think that he was drugged at Nadira's palce (Ruqu may plot this as she doesn't want to get caught) and that could be the reason Jalal may oppose Salim & Anarkali's love.
But do wish to see this: Since Ruqu is hell bent on making Salim to her puppet, without knowing the fact that she should start will small (minute) dose and increase it gradually, she may feed him a substantial amount which might affect his health by keeping him down to his bed for a longer period and worried parents will contact Hakima and will realize that he was Drugged in the first instance and take decision to send him away for military training at secluded place, away from his comfort zone and away from the pampering people.
And after this we will be presented with the grown up Salim all ready to take control of the Sultanate by excelling in all warfare tactics.
