Jalal comes with trays of gifts for Jodha on her birthday. He asks her to take a look and Jodha removes the covers and sees different types of ornaments starting from crown, necklaces, bangles, anklets etc etc.
Jodha nonchalantly thanks him and gives a look at Moti conveying 'I told you so, Shahensha can't think of anything meaningful beyond wealth and gold and jewelries' and then quietly asks her to keep it inside along with her other jewelries.
Jalal then tells her 'these are not for you Jodha begum. These are for Ambe Ma on your behalf on your birthday as a gesture of 'pranam'. This way even I can ask for forgiveness from her for what has been done by my men without my knowledge. And this will be my way of saying 'sorry' to you. Shahensha never apologize but believe me when I say this I never want to undermine any religion or any religious place where people go to pay homage to the Lord Almighty and be one with the Supreme power. This is my way of making your birthday memorable because I know you will be genuinely thrilled and happy in paying respect to your Divine Mother.'
Jodha is stunned to hear this and is almost in tears. Jalal notices this with pleasure.
And then he produces another tray that is covered in a green cloth. Jalal tells her 'this is for you.' Jodha slowly removes the cloth and sees a bind copy of "Shahnama". Jalal tells her 'you will not have to run for pages flying away in the breeze. You can read anywhere under the moon with the cool breeze blowing reading away to your heart's content. Who knows for all you know, you might teach me some 'nazme', since you are famous in giving lessons at drop of a hat.' He finishes this with his typical smirk.
Jodha looks at him spellbound almost choking in surprise and all overwhelmed with emotions. Jalal to make the moment light again with his smirk says 'Jodha begum aap thik toh hai na? Isse pahele aap kabhi itni khamosh nahi the, aapka koi sawaal nahi hai abhi? Arre shuru ho jaiye, hum jawab dene ka poora kaushish karenge.'
Jodha touches the 'Shahnama' to her forehead and keeps it next to "Bhagwad Gita' with equal respect and care which doesn't goes unnoticed by Jalal. For the first time Jodha sees a meaningful side of Jalal which has a lot of depth and intensity. She for the first time genuinely from her heart thanks him and he gestures back with his 'salaam' to her.
Please CV's can we have something meaningful like this? That has all the emotional profundity and Jodha sees Jalal in a new light.
