I am writing the analysis of today's episode in the reverse order because , contrary to the popular opinion here , i don't think the creatives are some big time duffers , nor do i shy from appreciating them when they do a spectacular job. The last scene is not spectacular in its form, framing or visual - its some real sense of connective writing where they are connecting all the Amer dots with Jalaal , so that when JJ move forward in their relationship , there is no bad blood of yesteryears and there are no complaints either.
Its a big joke in the forum that how Jodha had committed to MahaaKaali Maa and the soil of Amer that - " Jisne aake gehne utaare hainn, hum uskaa sar utaar laayenge aapke charanon mein". And we were wondering that how come Jodha has not demanded the jewels of MahaaKaali Maa from Jalaal yet , jab ittne bade bade waade kiyye the.
And today, the writers connected it all so beautifully , that all pieces of the past and present have fallen in place.
Jodha , behind all the arrogance and aggression , has been portrayed as a spiritual person who has a relationship with God in all forms - Lord Krishna, Maa Ambe, Mahaakaali Maa , Dargah Shareef. It may seem shrug-it-off to an atheist or an antagonist that she was so sentimental and emotionally angry about MahaaKaali Maa's jewels being robbed so cruelly... but for a child, its a shame to remember that her mother's belongings were snatched away and she could do nothing... so, when she enters that Holy Place again, she recalls the promise she made to MahaaKaali Maa and how she can no longer fulfill it as she cannot even think of beheading Jalaal.
And this is when the hand of God solves the problem. Maa not only allows Jodha to fulfill the promise she made to Her , she also blesses and forgives Jalaal.
1. Jalaal listens to Jodha's plight , understands her emotional anger and pain. For him Dargah Shareef and MahaaKaali Maa are the avatars of that same supreme power. He goes to the feet of MahaaKaali Maa and puts his head in Her feet. She forgives him and blesses him and the vermilion patch on his forehead is a proof of that.
2. Jalaal, once again, in the same mood of spiritual calm , as he was in Ajmer Shareef explains to Jodha that keeping one's head in the feet of God does not mean that the head has to be hacked off. Surrender to the Almighty only demands a bowed head in love - not a beheaded head on a plate.
3. Jodha will realize it tomorrow and so will Jalaal, that he had nothing to do with the raid done in this pious place by Mughal soldiers. The very reason for which Jodha wanted to behead Jalaal never happened in the first place. He never gave the orders to raid the holy temple of MahaaKaali Maa.
So, that way, Jodha's commitment to MahaaKaali Maa was fulfilled, Jalaal gave an example of extreme spiritual and religious tolerance and prostrated in front of MahaaKaali Maa just as he had done in front of Hazrat Khwaaja. Same love, same devotion and same surrender. The root cause , the actual bone of contention between JJ and the spot from where Jodha's hatred and prejudice for Jalaal sprung will be solved and erased by the Goddess herself.
The writers have used the 'hand of fate' and 'hand of God' to put JJ's past to rest. The ideal culmination of the 3.5 minute brilliance today would be Jalaal restoring every single jewel of MahaaKaali Maa - simply because he surrendered to Her today with a pure heart and as per precap, he is innocent of the crime that he is being accused of. Hence, washing away Jodha's grudge and prejudice that Jalaal had done such a cruel and demoniac act at all.
Coming to Amer with Jalaal, was necessary for Jodha , if you look beyond Sukanya's wedding after today's episode. The past prejudice , bones of contention , hatred and pre-conceived notions had to go before they could move ahead. Its only today that i realized , that Jodha never questioning Jalaal about raiding the holiness of the temple - a track which led to her disgust for Jalaal and the Rajputana "Prann" to behead Jalaal - well, it would have been a big glitch in character's root.
For the rest , here we go :
1. Jalaal is an overgrown child , a brat , a first-child-demanding-love-affection-pampering with Jodha. You have never seen him ask Ruqqaiya to feed his naaz-nakhre - hamaara haath dabaaiye, hamaara sar dabaaiye. You have never seen him demand pampering from anyone - Ruqqu, Maaham, Hameeda, Saleema or anyone else. He is doing this only with Jodha. Don't love me , don't bear me kids yet , continue with your sarcasm and masaaledaar gussa - all is cool with me. But stay in front of my eyes, and please continue to amuse me and fill me with a candyfloss that i don't even understand.
2. Today, he was not a King Hubby with Jodha and perhaps he doesn't want to be.Its a big progression from Jalaal's - " Badshaah se zubaan nahin ladhaati hain beghum.". He was just being Jalaal - a bratty husband who wants his Nakchadhi Beghum to feed the child in him , not his ego. The sarcasm that Jodha can talk civilly to him, that she loves her parents at least - if not him, his old weapon of " hamaari ek shart hai" to not try and control him , and to stay with him every night , his eagle hopping to sit next to Jodha, demanding care , affection and pampering - all these are needs of a man who is NOT a king , NOT a community husband who caters to the needs of 500+ women - they were simply whims of a man who wants to keep this woman - his Chief Queen No.3, his wife - close to himself. Cheekho, chillaao. ghrinaa ke 5.5 pages ke dialogues sunaao , lekin meri aankhon ke saamne hi garjo aur barso.
3. Jodha can be superbly calm, composed and caring when she is OFF-GUARD. She didn't order Jalaal to behave himself and stay 1000 miles away from dhishoom-dhishoom with Pratap. She was in " Hum aapse vinati karte hain" with Jalaal and bechaara Jalaal shock ke maare internal short circuit se mar hi jaata . She herself notices the paw marks on his neck and insists on putting the paste , with that rare innocence - " Aap jaama utaariye - hum apnee aankhein bandh kar lengge." ... and of course, Jalaal had to ruin the whole mood with his saas-bahu waala 'Baaghin' taana. - Acchi training le li hai Aalam Panaah ne apni Nakchadhi Beghum se.
4. The Amer women are as excited as Agra for 'Saleem'. All the knowing looks, smiles and smirks when Jodha said " wo humein uthne mein zaraa dair ho gayee". Kya Jodha , samajhtee nahin ho yaar. Poore Amer aur Agra ko Jehangir ka intezaar hai aur tum aur Jalaal Baagh-Baaghin khelne mein lagge ho... * rolls eyes* .
5. Maaham's and Jaaveda's scenes are not needed everyday. I love Jaaveda but if i see her everyday , the flavour fun will go away.
6. Aadham and Shareefuddin - * Sheikh Chilli ki sarkaar jo kabhi bantee toh yahee donno banaate.*... Khair , Aadham ne baat toh bade pate ki kahee. Its the easiest to kill a person in a crowd - teer kis kamaan se chhoota , ye kaun bataa sakta hai.
7. Jalaal joining his hands in prayer in front of MahaaKaali Maa because he remembered Jodha's raised hands in 'Dua' was a true soulmate connect. And the worry on his face seeing tears in Jodha's eyes was genuine , irrespective of what he is thinking in his cerebral hemispheres.
8. JJ are the only hopeless couple in the world who can argue even on the steps of a temple. No wonder MahaaKaali Maa blessed Jalaal. Jodha ko kaabu karnaa kya koi aasaan kaam hai?
9. The exchange between Jalaal and Pratap was fine - restrained anger , intelligent sarcasm , a tinge of saas-bahu taane aur phir apne apne raaste. Considering how aggressive both the historical figures are known in historym, ittna tashan toh bantaa tha boss.
Precap: Ideally, like i have said it above, if Jalaal is not responsible for raiding of MahaaKaali Maa's jewels as Jodha and the whole Amer believes, he should clarify and clear his name , even though its tough to prove it. Still, he should restore Her jewels. Jinke kadmon mein ittni shiddat aur ittne paak-saaf dil se sar jhukaaya hai , wahaan Jalaal ka ittna farz toh banta hai , aur wo adaa honaa bhi chaahiye.
