No, my dear, that would not wash, I am afraid. One cannot have an emperor saying that he cannot remember what happened. It would, as you yourself have noted, make him look weak and detract from his aura. Remember Julius Caesar and his epilepsy?
Of course the cases are not really similar, and also, I can see, right from here In Pune, where your tongue is- in your cheek!

Plus this is really not the standard issue Ekta soap. I am pleasantly surprised in the character development of Jalal, if not of Jodha.

Let us see what happens. I think Jalal's main concern, once he has some grip on the proceedings, would be to make sure that Jodha does not confess in a fit of remorse. She would then be done for, good and proper.

As for your irreverence, it is exactly what the doctor ordered, so bring it on, by all means!

Pardon me for my irreverence. Given that this is an Indian soap from a particular stable with particular dominant traits that run through its thoroughbreds, my irreverent guess would be that he would plead to suffering from partial amnesia, notwithstanding the fact that an admission of such a weakness by an Emperor would be unlikely in reality.

Question of the day:
For me, the real question re: the tiger episode is this, and do think about it, all of you.

What will Jalal tell the others, once he has regained consciousness, and especially his Ammijaan once they are back in Agra, about why he was not able to shoot the tiger?

My bet is that he will shield Jodha by saying that the trigger mechanism got jammed, for he knows that no matter how much Hamida Banu loves Jodha, she will never forgive her for this piece of meddling that could very easily have lost her her only son. This will also be the crowning lesson for Jodha in what her husband is like as a man.

What would be your guess?

Guilty! Well, it's also too early in a soap for the writers to use this ploy.

And, Her Excellency does need a reason to allow her eyes to see and her mind to acknowledge that the tide is beginning to turn. So, the Emperor is likely to throw a cloak of secrecy around the eventful hunt and provide an explanation that exempts Her Excellency from culpability, whilst possibly engaging in some deft mental reservation, and thus provide Her Excellency a pair of rose-tinted pince-nez.

Well, I jumped the gun on this one. Having read the written update for the day and the precap, if the truth of the eventful hunt finds its way through her own admission of guilt to Ruqaiyya Begum (which raises her in my estimation), unless this be yet another of her vivid imaginations, to the corridors of the harem and the palace and out onto the streets, will the rose-tinted pince-nez be provided only by a subsequent regia propitiberis?

I am almost sure the precap is a nightmare.

If this were to get out into the streets, the scandal would shake the Sultanate. It is not a question of Jodha, but of the prestige of the Shahenshah, and of the repercussions for his reputation even if he were to survive, as the man in the street would believe his Rajput wife tried to kill him. No
regia propitiberis ( I can only guess what precisely that means! Royal propitiation?) could have salvaged her.

Well, there is not much credit in the precap for Jodha, for she could hardly have told a lie direct. I always knew, and wrote somewhere here yesterday, that Jalal's first concern would be to keep her, given her acute sense of guilt and shame, from blurting out the truth and putting herself beyond the pale. But Jalal is too far gone to do anything of the kind.

It was all handled much better than I had expected, far grimmer, and Rajat was superlative as a Jalal who believes he is dying. When he graduates to films, he will be magisterial in the death scenes. It was very realistic in that, at that moment, he only wants to spare his Ammijaan and Ruqaiya the bloody sight, and he regrets not dying on the battlefield as a soldier.

Hi Shyamala and anobserver(and all others),
Though I am too over-whelmed by today's epi...I must admit that I too hope it's yet another vivid imagination of Her Excellency...😊 It better be...I feel it should her own hand which should plant that Tamaacha rather than Ruqaiyya...!!😡

About the epi, I was pleasantly surprised as the presentation surpassed my expectation in most cases (Like seeing Mohan as a Para-trooper rather than a foot-soldier) 👏...barring a few like I expected more fervor and urgency (rather than grabbing yet another chance of Lecturing to the almost dying fellow ) from H.Ex. for her mistake and concern of her almost dying husband.

My eyes started moistening on two occasions :

1.Hearing Rajat's Jalaal not complaining even after hearing her confession ,but giving an Angelic smile and a matching affectionate speech on the rules of his true existence to his distressed Puerile Wife while gasping for life (I think CVs are trying to make him a saint really)😭
2.Paridhi's Jodha Give that Heart-Rending Cry fearing the worst when her Husband lost consciousness.😭 That actually shows that the incident DID effect her on a very personal level realizing the true effect of that misfortune, surpassing her claim to have concern only for the Prajaa of the Sultanate.😊

I was really touched by the scenes 👍🏼
1." Jodha using every bit of her (nowadays almost disappeared) commonsense ,Physical strength and will power to make through the journey to a safer place. I simply was mesmerized when she was riding after tying Jalaal to herself and was securing his head on her shoulder with her hand ...Just like a protective mother...
!!😳🤗
(Shyamala, what a wonderful and apt simili ...LaxmiBai 😃...Really every bit...JodhaBai with Jallu Boy😆 )

2.Jodha's Maang getting smeared by Jalaal's blood while trying to balance him on the horse... as a divine reassurance of her Suhaag-Raksha and the FB of her Sindoordaan 😛Typical Ms.EK moment , no doubt ,but was a treat for us fans nonetheless...😃

I will stop here today as I know all of us are still recuperating from the fever of today's epi...so am I...hence more for tomorrow)

Regards,
Kamal

P.S. A few doubts-
1.Why did Jodha leave her husband's side after reaching Agra?? 😕
2.Jalaal said that he cannot see his begums in white libaas...!!!! Now does Muslim custom require widows to wear White only??I doubt...😕
(Or is it that he only could think of Jodha doing it in case he dies, and finding it unbearable...😉 This gives me another thought...when Jodha was about to commit suicide , she could only think of Jalaal and her Mom , And now we see Jalaal doing the same..i.e. thinking of His own Mom and Jodha just before he thought he would die, not to forget his uttering her name repeatedly before losing consciousness...😛 Now do we see/smell something here??? Whatever it is, it's extremely pleasant for sure 😃

Kamala my dear,

As I am not going to be looking in here tomorrow, I wanted to respond to this now itself, and then turn in at 3 am!

I agree with all of this bar the mush about the khoon bhari maang.

Well, as for your eyes misting over twice, re: the first, he knew that already, and then he is the kind who smiles even when death is at his elbow.

Re: the second, I would hope that she would cry out in shock and grief when she had, even if not meaning to do so, caused anyone's death thru her unconscionable meddling and wanton folly. But do feel free to romanticise over that if it pleases you!😉

Your Qs.

1)Jodha did not leave her husband's side. They encircled him and shut her out, and Mahaam glared at her as if she smelt a rat already.

2) Muslim widows do not have to wear white, but Mahaam does. Jalal is talking of not wanting to see his begums - distinctly in the plural - in white, so he is not thinking of Jodha alone.

As I have noted in my separate post, he talks not just of his mother and Jodha. He talks of wanting to spare his Ammijaan and Ruqaiya the bloody sight, and all he regrets is that he could not fulfil Ruqaiya's desire for a child, and of course the manner of his dying, on a jungle floor mauled by a tiger, not on the battlefield as a soldier.

He does struggle to tell Jodha something - his Jodha Begum, Jodha Begum .. ending in a fruitless battle with his fading senses.

No, no, Kamal, do not get upset with me! Remember that I am a self-confessed cynic, whereas you are an incurable romantic!😉Good Lord, it is 3:11 am! I am off to bed!
