DISCLAIMER - NOT A WU 😳
Jodha-Rahim-Mothi
While Jodha almost broke out into a cold sweat hearing about the unpleasant truth, Rahim sounded so adorable confessing his comparatively minuscule crime to Jodha.
'Don't worry about anything, your choti Ammi shall take care of everything' she tells the child and sends him off (Well this take-care-of-everything is what I'm immensely worried about Jodha!)
Following this, I am also glad that Jodha took Mothi into confidence (who also broke out into a cold sweat on hearing the news btw😆).
As Mothi shuts her mouth in horror with her perfectly-manicured fingers, Jodha updates her on everything!
Today we were blessed with a few Mothi-MA takkars...firstly, we get to hear Mothi's frustration about how she ended up looking like 'THE IDIOT' in the Adham Khan fiasco and later there is another one to follow😛
When Mothi asks Jodha why she wasn't repeating all of this to Shehenshah, Jodha gives her a very wise explanation
'Firstly, Rahim is a child...purely based on his words, we cannot implicate MA of such a big crime...secondly, MA is very shrewd...she wouldn't have left behind any other proof and this dibbi is hardly enough to confiscate her...most importantly, Shehenshah honours MA the most...without any solid evidence, if I tell him all this, he'll think I'm just doing it to avenge my insult'
[A standing ovation to our lil Jodha Begum for having summarized all our forum points very wisely here - or so I thought, till I saw the entire episode 😆]
Nice to hear that Jodha has shifted the crux of her 'hatred' from Jalal to MA. However, I wish she'd stop complaining about sukanya's broken alliance since prince Ratan was no Ratan!
JALAL-BHARMAL
Watching Jalal discuss about Gwalior, Bengal, politics and acquisitions was a welcome relief from his obsession with the dibbi and harem. He looked so calm and in control here!
Once Bharmal steps in, Jalal's respectful mode is back on. After explaining the reasons behind his actions in the recent past, he concludes majestically 'I hope you don't retain bitterness in your heart with respect to these recent incidents'
'Actually, now...a King has not come to meet an emperor...a father-in-law has come to meet his son-in-law' Bharmal replies 'I hope I don't hurt your pride while saying a few things I have to'
'Your son-in-law is ready to listen to what you have to say' Jalal pauses 'go on'
Bharmal goes on to enlighten Jalal about his Rajvanshi pride and about how they'd been loyal to him - not out of compulsion - but out of choice!
It seemed like Bharmal wanted to get facts straight here - that he wanted his hurt pride restored. Possibly even get even with Jalal in a subtle way following their MUs last week
'We love our sons, but we love our sons-in-law even more..we respect them too' the king says
Jalal is in accordance with all of it - he does not doubt Bharmal's loyalty or honesty 'I understand your sentiments..so, please consider this your son-in-law's helplessness, not an Emperor's insolence!'
Then, Bharmal goes on to remind Jalal that a 'King's actions created history!' Jalal's interest was piqued as was mine!
'Do something GOOD/JUST that overshadows the injustice that has just transpired in this palace' Bharmal advices Jalal 'This shall make you seem like a wise emperor not one who made hasty decisions...also, our pride shall be returned to us and your honour stays intact!'
I wonder what Jalal shall make of this advice!
Finally, Bharmal wants to return to Amer - but only after he ensures that his sons stay back till the murderer is found! Jalal is undoubtedly impressed here.
AMERI SEND OFF
LOVED THE AMERI MUSIC - Loved the scene where Jalal sees them off with due respect! Apparently, this respect Jalal only gave to a handful of his relations.
Loved the austere expressions on Jalal's face when he wishes them he'd have the pleasure of their company again. Obviously, also loved the hint of guilt that clouds him when Bharmal praises HB for having stood up for his daughter, for Rajvanshis and for Amer (in court!)
Jalal seemed deep in thought when he heard Bharmal tell his Ammijaan a fact 'Truly Mallika, Mainawati and I are content in Amer because we know that YOU are here with Jodha!'
[Jalal must have been thinking 'Hey isn't that comment supposed to be directed at me instead of Ammijaan?'😆]
MOTHI-MA
MA is brilliant- be it her sarcastic dialogues or the manner in which she delivers it!😛
When Mothi requests MA to come to the kitchen, Resham shouts back at Mothi. However, MA shushes Resham 'Don't bark at her..after all, she is only the messenger, the words belong to Begum Jodha. When THE GREAT Jodha Begum invites me..obviously, this humble servant has to present herself at service'
JODHA-MA
On reaching the kitchen, MA finds Jodha re-enacting the entire poisoning episode sarcastically - lying while doing so that she was preparing a relaxant for her stressed brothers! MA grows increasingly nervous and asks what all went in the relaxant i.e. the ingredients.
Jodha explains wryly 'This potion helps a person relax, we use Kesar, gulab jal and kewda in Amer...however, I realized that dhathure ka arkh is the ingredient used here in Agra!'
Following this, the manner in which the revelation was unfolded by Jodha to MA was astounding - their dialogues sharp and cutting - their expressions perfect!
However, what didn't make sense to me was why when Jodha so wisely told Mothi that she still needed evidence to prove MA guilty decide to blab everything to MA now?😕 It sorta negated her intelligent stance to Mothi in the scene prior.
SHOWDOWN
Jalal looks troubled as it is - even before all of this started 😆
'I'm surprised to see both of you TOGETHER here' he sneers when he sees MA and Jodha walk into his chamber at night (I had to laugh at this dialogue😆)
MA goes on to confess-and-yet-not-confess to the crimes that she committed-and-yet-didn't-commit!
Jalal is nearly in tears as he hears all of it. He looks up at Jodha and then back at MA 'No this cannot be true!' he utters
'Whatever the Shehenshah and his begums state, is considered the final truth! I blamed Jodha initially, so now its her turn to do so to me...so what if I didn't actually commit a crime of commission, it was a crime of omission...I didn't check the kesar properly'
Yada yada...we get the gist just as did Jodha when she saw how her plan had utterly backfired! My my MA and her crocodile tears...Ashwini hats off to you lady!
At one point MA nearly falls at his feet wailing - Jalal is flabbergasted and emotionally torn watching the supposedly pitiful state of his Badi Ammi. Needless to say, he grows increasingly enraged with Jodha thereafter!
