That funda only worked out cuz Jhanak became an orphan in the beginning of the story only.....she had no mom and uski Ani se zabardasti shaadi ho gayi so they could manage to sell that funda that she formed this deep emotional connect with Ani given how she had no one else left of hers in this world and subconsciously woh shaadi made her feel a rishta/haq on him.

But yahaan yeh gawaar Jhanak ki Maa hai, whole village hai support karne ko, PR hai as father figure and still she is acting bechaari and "confused" about nakli shaadi....lol obviously it will look more fake and forced.
