Finished watching JDJ9 W2 last night and blaahhh.
Jackie is not a great judge. Maybe she'll improve over the course of the show, but what's with hiring non-Hindi speakers as a judge? Lauren and Jackie both have that language barrier, and while Jackie speaks better Hindi than Lauren, Lauren is an actual dancer and had more advice to give, but I'm not sure how 'effective' she was given that JDJR wanted to let the non-English speaking audience (which is clearly the minority) understand, so she had to fumble to choose specific words and occasionally tried speaking Hindi. It doesn't come off very good when the entire show is spoken in Hindi, and then boom - English speaking judge because it puts the English speaking judge in an awkward position (so I feel).
Arjun - his performance improved after Mouni entered. She was the saving grace of his dance and it was a treat to watch Mouni dance. Imagine just Mouni and Bhavna dancing on stage alone, no Arjun 😆😆 Why was Mouni brought in? Probably because Arjun didn't improve much, so to make him stay strong (and get that 21), Mouni had to be brought in to add some zest / mirch
Karishma - Uhm, I'm sorry for the troubles you had in life ... but that really killed it for me. Her dance wasn't all too great either, which leads me to think she was trying to garner sympathetic votes.
Harpal Ji - After hearing Karishma, I couldn't really pay attention - her sob story just ruined it all and took away the excitement. Harpal did an okay job, but I wasn't paying attention so ..
Nora - Yeah, no. Still didn't pay attention. She did pretty good I guess, but who knows.
And then life was brought back when Gerua played with Shakti dancing.
Shakti - Wow. That was definitely the best performance of that show. That flow, that speed, that emotional connection between the two. Excellent choreography. To be fair, I did watch it (and not get distracted) for three reasons: 1) officially BB loved, 2) Gerua, 3) I couldn't take my eyes off; it was just so beautifully done.
Twins - It was okay, but last week was definitely a better performance. There were some times that I felt that they were out of sync, and as KJo said, they did lack energy. The thing that fascinates me with these two is that they are twins. Twins have this special bond between each other, where they are somewhat on the same "frequency" so to speak, so it would have been interesting to see this link between the two play off in the future. But since they are leaving ... 😭😭 we'll never get to see that.
Salman - Has the clear advantage, and the bakhwas about him having to improve even more than before (which makes the advantage disappear) is just that, bakhwas. He's already a great dancer and one of the disadvantages of that is it's a bit more difficult to judge his improvement levels. With non-dancers, it's easier to pick up; that's why I feel the judges aren't going to be trying to notice his improvements. As long as his performs good (which he will do), he's got the clear advantage. I want to see Salman actually mess up for once in JDJ 9. Better yet, make him and Chutki partners for one episode and do that sensual dance. Yummm
