The costumes of the first round have been designed by Neeta Lulla. "It was fun designing for the contestants since all of them are from different walks of life. I had to keep in mind the body structure of each individual and also the different dance movements that were being used," reveals Neeta. She admits that apart from Akaashdeep Saigal who is already comfortable on camera, it was a great challenge to design for chef Sanjeev Kapoor and filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar. "Usually, in a Western dance form, the costumes are a blend of black and gold. I have tried to incorporate the same in all the costumes. But it was a lot of fun to design for Mahesh and Sanjeev. I really had to rack my brains for the chef. But I think it went off pretty well," laughs the designer. However, Rati Agnihotri has designed her own clothes and has not taken the help of any designer (and it shows!). Neeta will now design for the grand finale that will occur after eight weeks. "I will have to prepare for the finals. My daughter Nishka has designed for co-anchor Archana (Puran Singh) and we will think about the costumes once the competition gets to the final lap of the show," she continues. According to producer Anita Basu (Siddharth Basu's wife), "We've made a deliberate attempt to rope in prominent designers from Mumbai and Delhi to give a unique look to our show. We have a list of designers and are in the process of finalising the details. We do have Malini Ramani on board to design for our contestants." She further reveals that the judges also have been assigned different designers keeping in mind their personality and also the format of the show. nuzhat@dnaindia.net | ||
