Hey guys...!! 😃
Tonight, in my opinion, was one of the best episodes of Jhalak this season, complete with powerhouse performances, some serious hard work and soul, some stunning visuals, and a very complete, wholesome package of entertainment...so i just thought i'd share my thoughts about each of the five performances...do feel free to post in with your own too...😊
Gauhar and Himanshu : She looked every bit the "Kaanch Ki Gudiya" described in her song, and played every bit of the part to perfection with apt body language and expressions...the choreography was fabulous...although i personally felt the use of the ball was a little let's-fill-something-in-here type...and i was quite excited to watch them use the trampoline, but they used that only at the very end of the routine...and it sort of threw them off balance too, but it's a trampoline, and doing lifts on one ain't a piece of cake...so overall, very good use of props, good choreography and perfect expressions, although i was personally left asking for more...but that could be my expectations doing the talking...she can do better though...😊
Judges' Assessment : SK9 JC9 VM10
My Take : They were good, but have potential to do better...i'd give them a 9...😊
Parul and Deepak : The clown bit was perfect...the attitude, the body language, the expressions and all intact...what i personally felt should not have been so literally in-the-same-vein were the steps which i found a tad basic and simpler than usual...but i guess they did that on purpose, keeping the theme of a Circus in mind...so won't hold it against them...but still, again, left me asking for more coz Deepak's a fab choreo and Parul can also dance quite well...the treadmill felt a little out of place in a Circus act, but it was unusual and they used it pretty well...
Judges' Assessment : SK9 JC8 VM9
My Take : Agree with the overall score...would've done better if they used a wee bit more complicated steps or a lift here and there...I'd give them an 8.5...😛
Karan and Nicole : WHOA...dude, like Vaibhavi said, where the hell were you this long...?!! i mean, i always thought he had potential, but he crossed any level i could ever have considered for him, looking at his past record with dancing strictly, on either of his shows...well, he danced today...and HOW...i really thought theirs was a very complete and wholesome performance...loved the costumes, excellent choreography, good use of another very unusual prop, and this time, there was dancing too, good and proper...and they both pulled it off so effortlessly it was quite startling, really...tw...full points to Nicole for making him do this, and full points to him for doing it so darn well...!! i really can't think of anything to say except that he need not have missed a 30 for this one...and this is from a purely neutral point of view...
Judges' Assessment : SK10 JC9 VM10
My Take : Didn't get what Juhi cut a mark for...and she didn't explain either...but for me, this was one performance that was really worth a 30...so i'd give it a 10 without hesitating a tiny little jot...👍🏼
Hard Kaur and Savio : WooooHooo...!! it was a Circus incarnate, and what a circus it was...even theirs was a very complete performance, true to the theme, and yet not compromising on the dancing or lifts...and for the most part it was most thoroughly entertaining...be it the little pranks on the judges in the beginning, or HK being suspended from Savio's tie while he twirled her around...the expressions were perfect, the lifts were good, the use of props was amazing...again, not much to say, coz it was just so totally cool...!!
Judges' Assessment : SK10 JC10 VM10
My Take : Agree...totally deserved a perfect score...so 10 from my side too...⭐️
Baichung and Sonia : Hmm...well, it was a BIG risk...and it cost them a bit too...it was visually quite appealing...and graceful too...but personally, i felt that most of their performance was spent in holding postures rather than doing steps...but then the rings they used could probably have allowed them just about that much without risking falling off entirely if they got too ambitious with the choreography...i do still feel that some of the poses lasted too long, like the first two chants of "Soniyo..." had them simply sitting with thier legs stretched out...it sort of ate into most of their stage time...their performance was shorter than others as it is...it wasn't bad at all though...just felt a little incomplete, and not so well executed...😳
Judges' Assessment : SK9 JC8 VM8
My Take : Agree with the overall score...I'd give them a 7.5...😊
So there it is...do post in your thoughts...feel free to disagree...although i'd request everyone to keep it clean...try and keep it objective, and please don't get personal about any contestant/choreographer/judge/host/fellow member...let's try and keep this healthy guys...
cheers! 😃
