Armaan gets up in startled gratitude and follows the constable out of the cell.
Shaina is handing over bail papers to the inspector. On seeing him, she smiles sympathetically and says, "I'm sorry sir….mujhe bilkul pata nahin tha…main aaj hi Shimla se waapas aayi hun."
Armaan: Shaina, tum iss waqt kisi angel se kum nahin ho! Lekin tumhe mere baare mein kaise pata chala?
Shaina explains that the legal hassles in the land records office at Shimla had kept her so occupied that she had not had a moment to think that something might be going wrong in Kangra. But last night, when she repeatedly tried to call Jassi, no one picked up her cellphone. Unaware that Armaan had reached Kangra, she called up the hotel and found that Jassi had not returned since 2 days and moreover, Armaan had been there in the meantime and checked out her luggage. Sensing that something was wrong, she got her work completed in a tearing hurry (with a bit of luck) and rushed back.
In Kangra, she faced a dead end as she had no idea where they were after checking out of the hotel. Finally she went to the weavers, and found them sitting on a fast-unto-death to protest their land being seized by Ashmit's contractors. Harish told her that Jassi had promised 2 days ago to meet Ashmit but had disappeared since. With a bit of probing and an ear for local gossip, she managed to find out that last night, a man had been arrested from a nearby cottage for kidnapping a woman whom he claimed to be his wife. One of the weavers had seen the woman and had a vague notion that she looked like Jassi. Putting two and two together with the speed for a supercomputer, she got to the truth of the matter. The first thing was to rescue Armaan, so there she was.
Armaan: Main iss waqt tumhe theek se thank you bhi nahin keh sakta…..Shaina, Jassi is in great danger…..hume usse Ashmit ke ghar se chundaana hoga!
Shaina: (turning to the inspector) Officer, aapne inhe kidnapping ke charge pe arrest kiya tha….ab main ek FIR likhvaana chahti hun….Mr. Ashmit Singhania ke khilaaf….Mrs. Jasmeet Suri ko illegally detain karne ke liye!
Inspector: Madam, ye aapke aur hospital ke beech ki baat hai….discharge unhone diya hai, humne nahi!
Shaina: Toh kya main ye samjhu ki ek citizen ki complaint ki aapki liye value nahin hai….sirf Ashmit Singhania jaise influential aadmi ki baat par aap FIR lodge karte hai? Be careful, officer…..I'm a lawyer….apni duty na karne ke liye main aapko court le ja sakti hun!
Inspector: (bristling) Aap…mujhe dhamki de rahi hai?
Just then Harish bursts in. "Arre memsa'ab…inhone aaj tak hum gareebon ke liye kya insaaf kiya hai, jo ab karenge….Singhania ke gundo se toh hume bacha nahin paaye…..chaliye, hum sab log aapke saath hai….Jassi memsa'ab ne hamare kaaran musibat mol li hai, ab unhe bachaana hamara farz hai…."
They rush off towards Ashmit's house, Shaina giving the officer a last "I'll deal with you later" look before leaving. The entire colony of weavers is with them. When someone asks Harish who will continue the protest at their locality, Shaina waves a stack of papers before them.
"Ab ye log tumhara kuch nahin bigaad sakte….main land office se saboot laayi hun, ki zameen tum logon ki hi hai….Singhania aur uske saathiyon ne bahut bada fraud kiya hai!"
One weaver rolls up his sleeves. "Toh ab wahi ja kar iska hisaab karte hai!"
Meanwhile, Jassi is trying to feel comfortable at Ashmit's place. Though he seems exceptionally attentive and caring, she looks uncomfortable. Finally she can't resist asking, "Ashmit…..wo aadmi….Armaan Suri….police uske saath koi…koi zabardasti toh nahin karegi na?"
He puts on a forced smile. "Wo kidnapper hai Jassi….phie bhi tumhe uske liye sympathy ho rahi hai? ….khair, isse ye saabit hota hai ki tumhara dil kitna bada hai. Ab tum aaram karo, main tumhare liye juice laata hun."
He goes to the kitchen and pours out a glance of orange juice. Then….with an evil smile he puts a white powder in the juice, stirring it thoroughly. Putting on his most innocent face, he goes back to the lounge and offers her the glass.
She picks it up and sips it innocently. Smiling at the success of his plan, Ashmit walks back quietly to the kitchen.
Tomorrow: Armaan to the rescue
