Entry 1
Celestial International Fashion House is renowned the world over for its distinctive designs that do not follow trends—rather create them. Celestial Int sources designs from the remote corners of the world, ranging from Peru to Japan, from Greenland to Guyana, and puts them on fabric for classy buyers who have a feel for quality.
Keeping this in mind, Gulmohur believes that it can further expand Celestial's design base by introducing them to the traditional and ethnic weaves of India. Gulmohur has always believed in creating fashion that is not just restricted to the rich and thin; but which is accessible to the middle-class buyer who has not just an Indian figure but Indian preferences too.
Therefore, Gulmohur's latest fashion show will showcase the theme:
SERENDIPITY
Serendipity means "stumbling on hidden treasures". There are many such treasures of design hidden in the remote corners of India. For this fashion show, Gulmohur will showcase the collections of 5 upcoming designers who have been using the traditional weaves and embroidery of their region and putting them into garments that have a contemporary appeal.
Celestial is known to be completely environment-friendly as it does not use animal fur or skins in its garments nor does it rely excessively on chemical dyes and artificial materials. Gulmohur salutes its noble intentions; therefore all garments showcased in Serendipity will be made from completely natural fibers and dyes.
The show itself will be in the open-air under the star-lit sky, in an island in the middle of a lake. Away from the artifical glare of city lights, exotic dancers from different regions of India will provide breathtaking performances in between the show.
The show will be targeted at buyers who have a streak of creativity and do not blindly follow trends; especially people who are well-travelled and consider themselves "citizens of the world", yet want their clothes to reflect their Indianness. The overall price range will be slightly high keeping in mind these requirements, but there will also be individual garments that are comfortably within reach of middle-class clientele. Clothes for both men and women will be featured.
The show, and the collections featured, has immense potential to be successful in both the national and international markets. There is a dearth of good designer-wear in India that is accessible to the average pocket; at the same time, internationally there is a great demand for Indian designs and Serendipity will satiate that demand. Individual buyers, retailers and export houses are all expected to snap up these collections. Even if 75% of the stock is sold, it can pull the company out of its financial problems and generate working capital for the next collection.
