Will the magic work again?
After being popular as Armaan Sir, Apoorva Agnihotri is back in a new avatar.
After Armaan Sir became a cult along with Jassi in 'Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin' (Sony), Apoorva Agnihotri is back as Dev Pratap Singh in 'Kaajjal' (Sony). Having taken a deliberate break from work, Apoorva is back with a bang on the small screen. "I was getting offers but I wanted to take it easy. I also wanted to take up a role which would recreate the same magic as Armaan Sir," he says. Elaborating on his character in the new show, Apoorva explains, "I play someone who has lost everything in love. He is bitter and has given up hope. It is quite different from what I portrayed earlier."
Having paired with wife Shilpa (Saklani) in 'Jassi…', Apoorva feels that it would be exciting to work with his wife. But he is quick to point out, "It is always comfortable to work with an unknown person rather than someone you know." A close friend of Jassi (Mona Singh), Apoorva says that he has been voting for Mona who is part of 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' (Sony). "Even though I love Shveta Salve's performance, I am rooting for my Jassi," he smiles.
Not many know that the actor's first love in life was to be a pilot. "I always wanted to fly and be a pilot. I had also invested a lot of money but could not pursue it," he reveals. The actor shares how he actually got a feel of being a pilot when the team of 'Kaajjal' recently took a flight from New Delhi to Dehradun. "I sat with the pilots in the cockpit. It was an amazing experience," he continues. Incidentally, most of the serial has been shot in Mussoorie.
Apoorva says that television happened to him by chance. But he insists that his ultimate goal in life is to be in Bollywood. The actor admits that he draws his inspiration from his father Gyandev Agnihotri, who was a screenplay writer and had films like 'Mr Natwarlal' and 'Do Aur Do Paanch' to his credit. "I want to be behind the camera and direct a film some day. I feel actors are mere puppets in the hands of a director," he ends philosophically.
