Jassi stares at Saagar in horror as he confesses that he had lied to her.
"Mr.Saagar, mujhe ek jhoote aadmi se baat karne ka koi shauk nahin. Goodbye…." She turns indignantly and tries to walk out of the fort.
Saagar rushes before her and blocks her way. "Aap meri baat toh sun lijiye…."
J: Aapke iraade jo bhi ho…mujhe unme koi interest nahin….mera raasta chodiye…..
S: Jassi ji, kya aap mujhe ek mauka bhi nahin dengi? (he grabs her elbow lightly; she shakes it off angrily)
Then from behind them, a female voice calls, "Please ruk jaiye!"
A woman, clad in a kurti and long skirt, comes over to them and stands before Jassi; her back is to the camera.
Jassi stares coldly at her—"Kaun ho tum?"
(I kinda don't like this habit if J's—calling people whom you've just met "Tum" is rather rude; she did it with that airport chick who told her Armaan was in Malaysia; she did it with Kimmi (understandable), and she did it with Vidhi (which deserves applause😉); but at least she could have said, "Aap kaun?" with this unknown female).
Finally we get to see the girl's face……..drum roll once again…….presenting Gauri Pradhan!👏
Yea, I know what you are thinking—Gauri had already come as herself during the Mauritius makeover; but when Karan Oberoi could come as himself first and later as Raghav, and that guy who played Mallika's travel agent could miraculously transform into an attendant at Shiuli's house, why can't TnD repeat Gauri? I'd take her over MM anyday!😳
Gauri says, "Main…Francesca….Saagar ki fiance."
Jassi is again stunned.
Then they tell her the full story: Saagar and Francesca were neighbours and F was very close to S's family. When they grew up, they fell in love; everyone was happy, especially Grandma, who was counting the days till their wedding.
F lived with her father; he was not against the marriage, but wanted S to earn a larger income than he did from his modest shop. So he kept on postponing his approval for their marriage, hoping that he would find a better suitor for F. In the meantime, Grandma's condition worsened; the doctors said she had only a few months to live.
Grandma had only one wish: to see Saagar marry Francesca before she died. The problem was that F's father was too complacent—he knew that S would marry only F, so he could afford to keep him hanging.
The only solution was to make F's father feel that S would find another girl if he got tired of waiting for F. So he started looking for a girl whom he could show off as his new love interest. It could not be a local girl, since every girl around knew of their love story and would refuse to play along. Moreover, if they did that, F's father would find out the truth from the girl's family in no time.
So it had to be a stranger, a tourist, who was beautiful enough to set tongues wagging. But approaching tourists wasn't easy. Saagar watched for many days, frequenting the parties and romps of the visitors to Goa, till he saw Jassi. She seemed so warm and approachable, and he felt that she would be the right person. Moreover, since she was married, there would be no danger of her accidentally falling in love with him!😆
He watched her for many days and finally decided that she could be of help to him. The masked ball allowed him to know her a little more without revealing his identity. But when he saw Armaan's jealous reaction, he realized that he just might not agree to let Jassi come to his house. So he cooked up the story of the "hamshakal" Stella, and managed to convince them .
The evening before Jassi's visit, Saagar and Francesca deliberately quarreled loudly in her father's hearing; S left, threatening that he would soon find another girlfriend. He followed it up by bringing J to his house in his open car, knowing that he could count on the town gossips to do the rest!
The effect was as intended—F's father was alarmed, and came that very night to Saagar's house to implore him to marry his daughter. They got engaged that very afternoon. And it was all thanks to Jassi!
Jassi is still annoyed. "Par jhooth toh jhooth hi hai…..aapne apne parents se bhi jhooth bulwaya….aur Grandma ko bhi andhere mein rakha!"
S: Jassi ji, mera yakeen kijiye, Grandma ko kuch nahin pata…agar yeh zindagi aur maut ka sawaal na nota toh main aisa raasta kabhi na chunta. Mere parents jhooth bolne ke khilaaf the….weh sirf Grandma ki khaatir raazi huye the…uss din jab main aapko ghar laaya, maine Grandma ko yahi bataya ki aap Francesca ki cousin Stella hai, jo uske dad to convince karne ke liye aayi hai….aur aapne promise kiya hai ki aap hamari shaadi karva ke rahengi…..Grandma ke liye aap kisi angel se kum nahin….
F: Aur hamare liye bhi….hum sirf aapse maafi maangna chahte the…aapko apne jhooth ka hissa banane ke liye…..par shaayad aapko pata nahin ki iss jhooth se kitno ko khushi mili hai….
Jassi reaches out and takes F's hand.
J: main samajh sakti hun…aapka raasta sahi ho na ho, par aapke iraade toh nek the…par ab mujhe jaana chahiye….bahut der ho chuki hai…Armaan mera intezaar kar rahe honge….
She glances at the time and jumps—it is 8o'clock. She tries to call Armaan, but there is no signal. She is worried. "Armaan kahin naaraz na ho jaye."
Saagar and Francesca insist on dropping her back and telling Armaan the whole story. But just as they are heading out for the car, the heavens open and a torrent of rain come down. They run back to the fort for shelter.
Jassi says to herself, "Ab main Armaan ke paas kaise jaun?"
Tomorrow: A cop tells Saagar that the road is blocked.
