The anthology is published by voicesnet.com, and I am copypasting a select portion of that email...
'Recently you participated in the VoicesNet Anthology International Poetry Competition and it is an honor to inform you that your poem, "IT WOULDN'T HAVE HURT ME THUS", was selected for publication. Congratulations.
Please return the enclosed Permission Slip right away to certify your Selected status so that your poem will be guaranteed to appear in the next VoicesNet Anthology Book series.
When your Permission Slip is received, your poem will then become eligible for possible selection as a Special Recognition or Top 3 poem.
The top 3 poets receive cash, prizes and other honors. A Free competition book and $100 goes to the winner, $50 and a free book goes to the 2nd place poet and $25 and a free book goes to the 3rd place poet.
Remember, there is no cost to you to have your selected poem published in the Anthology.
VoicesNet.com is not a vanity press. Every poem that is received is not selected. We receive and have declined thousands of poems since we started judging in January of 2002. We have received and judged over 55,000 poems since we started our contests.
The VoicesNet Anthology International Poetry Competition books for this quarter go to press on 6/1/2005. This is also the date that the Special Recognition poems and the Top 3 Poems will be announced publicly for the first time on the website. The VoicesNet Anthology contest book orders will then be mailed out internationally by 9/1/2005.
As the author of a selected poem, your permission to publish is required.'
On request here is the first poem from Armaan to Jassi
Souring high over wilderness
Dancing among stars and shines,
Never did I see the wind
Blowing that speck of dust on me...
But just a speck, it wasn't...
Never did I feel that
The dust was a tiny seed of Love...
She started to grow like a wine,
A journey from my toenails,
She grew and grew and grew
Slowly towards my tresses anew...
Gripping my heart in her tender hands
Clouding my mind in sweet essence...
Entwining, engulfing, enriching.
Now, not a single cell in me is left
Where she isn't the nucleus...
All my smiles, all my laughs
And all the tears
Unshed, at the back of my eyes
Are just hers, only hers...
In rain or shine,
In sickness in health,
Even after death do us apart,
For ever and some more
I am hers, only hers,
My Destiny...
The second one from Jassi to Armaan which is selected for publication...
It couldn't have burnt be thus
It wouldn't have burnt me thus
If you had swooped like a vulture
Rather perching like a sparrow...
If you had stung like a poison ivy
Rather shining like the morning glory...
If you had torn like the hounding foes
Rather singing friendly tunes...
It wouldn't have burnt me thus...
Yet still in this inky dark
I could spot a dawn, a spark...
When the sky lightens with
The Rising of the Phoenix
I will up and fly again
From the depths of my own ashes...
