Actress Rakhshanda Khan is a show-stopper, there's no denying that! And at a fashion presentation by designers Alpa and Reena on Monday night at Grand Maratha, this green-eyed beauty had the crowd in a tizzy as four bare-chested demigods brought her into the ball room in a royal palanquin.
Dressed for the finale in a bridal lehenga, Rakhshanda gracefully slithered down the catwalk and lifted the veil from her face to the strains of dramatic music. The audience cheered and clapped and took pictures on their mobile phones, not knowing that this one-time house model for Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, has walked the ramp after five full years!
Of course, the other leggy lasses like Aditi Govitrikar, Aanchal Kumar (we love her razor-sharp cheek-bones), Kavita Khariyat and Mridula Chandrashekhar added dollops of glamour to the show. But as far as the invitees were concerned, the evening belonged to Rakhshanda.
We liked the clothes - very prt and colourful - and by the amount of applause we heard from Kishin Mulchandani, it seemed like he planned on buying up the whole collection for one of his girlfriends.
Designers like Nisha Merchant and Arshiya Eappen also lent their support to these two young designers by cheering continuously while TV actors Aman Malhotra and Ashu Chauhan couldn't get their eyes off the lovelies on the ramp. Also making their presence felt were Talat Aziz and Tanaaz Currim, both of whom mingled amiably and stayed long after the show got over!
