I also was not sure why she was wearing it...I thought the sindoor would come in after she gets the sense that he is alive not dead...

may be she feels he is alive

See when sid was alive she never wore it so that sid could make her wear it ;). And she could get a romantic sid :P

Now no sid is there so poor girl has to wear it on her own remembering her RB :D
