yeah but somehow CVS had to stretch the track and thats why they butchered SidNi's characters by showing them Mahaan.

Actually Sid has not seen the message earlier and they were not at all suspicious about misha before but after dd got the prove that misha is schizophrenic then the message make sense to sid and then he shared it with roshni and he was confused that what to do next then roshni convinced sid that no matter what if misha is culprit then they have to take the stance and after that sid thought that only way to reveal the truth is when misha herself spit it out infront of everyone and then he made the plan with roshni. So overall it was nit illogical from their pov.
