Chapter - 5
Arnav was pacing the floor of his cabin at AR designs. Though Shyam had said that Khushi was trying to seduce him, and he had hit upon a plan to steer her away from his family, the rational part of his brain had asked him to do a thorough background checking of both Shyam and Khushi. And, Aman, being the ever-loyal employee had collected all the details with proof and presented it to him in just 5 hours. All these details only prove that Khushi is not guilty, and indeed her parents and her brother were killed in an accident, and also that Shyam was not an adopted child of the Jha family. But, if that was true, how did he know the past of Khushi? The only person who could answer all his questions was Khushi, but even, she has gone to Lucknow with her sister.
"Wait, Lucknow? Even Aakash has a meeting at Lucknow right? Why not go there on the pretense of joining him? Yes, I'll go to Lucknow right away." thinking so, Arnav made the arrangements to leave for Lucknow, not knowing that Aakash indeed had a personal meeting at Lucknow.

The journey from Delhi to Lucknow seemed to be very long for Arnav, for he was determined to find answers to all those questions which were eating out his brain. He did not inform Aakash about his visit to Aakash, since he did not want Aakash to get distracted from the deal he was working on. He tried his best to be patient, but it was of no use. He wanted to pull out his hair in frustration
Why did Khushi react in a strange way when she was around Shyam, when he claimed to be her own brother?
Why did Khushi react to all his touches and advances on the night of Diwali, when he had always hurled abuses at her and always taunted her?
Why does my heart control me whenever I am with her?
Why does it matter to me that Khushi looks at me with contempt?
Why am I unable to accept that she is the one at fault?
Why does my instinct urge me to talk to her before I draw a conclusion?
"Sir, we have arrived at Vivanta hotel.", the voice of the driver brought him out of his thoughts. After checking into the hotel, Arnav showered and changed into a casual black T-shirt and white jean in record time, and decided to pay a visit to Khushi's ancient house, mentally thanking Aman for getting all the details about Khushi in such a short time. After providing the address to his driver, Arnav decided to call Aakash, since it was past 8pm in the evening, and inform him about his visit to Lucknow and the shocking revelations about Shyam.

Meanwhile at Khushi's house, Khushi had a great time in teasing Aakash and Payal. Though they had not spoken about their feelings with each other, Aakash's subtle gesture of praising the food and expressing his desire to have 'such food prepared with love' everyday of his life, and Payal's reddened face were more than enough for Khushi to understand that they were in love. Their silent shy smiles, and stolen glances continued throughout the day, tempting Khushi to tease them. The whole day, she had found Aakash and Payal talking in almost whispers whenever they did not find Khushi around. She had found Payal talking to Aakash about something and when she had entered the room, the suddenly stopped talking and Payal had left that place abruptly, stating that she had to make a call to Amma. She was happy that her Jiji had found such a caring and loving person to take care of her. A small smile played on her lips as she recalled the panic she found on Aakash's face when her Jiji had accidentally slipped and twisted her ankle today. This made her wonder about how different Aakash was from Arnav.
How understanding and patient Aakash was, while Arnav Singh Raizada wore his heart on his sleeves...
Her heart pained when she remembered the hatred she saw on Arnav's face, his taunts, his accuses, abuses, his manhandling nature, his anger...
The loud knocks on the door brought her out of her reverie. Wondering who it would be, she went and opened the door.
To say that she was shocked would be an understatement, for she found the devil standing right before her, staring at her with an unknown emotion. Her eyes watered and even before he could call her, she ran into the dining room, where Aakash and Payal were talking about something with worried expressions.
"Jiji.. Aakashji.. Woh.." she could not continue as her throat constricted with emotions.
"Khushiji.. Why are you tensed? Kya hua?" asked Aakash, worry written al over his face, while Payal side hugged her, trying to calm her down.
"Woh.. Arnavji is here. He.. He.."
"Aakash, Tum yahan?" sounded Arnav's voice from the door, his face portraying the shock.
"Bhai, what are you doing here? I mean.. Like... All of a sudden? At this time?.." stammered Aakash, preparing himself mentally to lay down the cards, since there was no way out now.
"I could ask you the same Aakash"
Aakash took a deep breath, and finally with a clear loud voice, he replied "Woh, I came to meet Payal. I like her Bhai, And before you ask me, no, she does not know about this. I had lied to you about the deal. I have come here to speak to Payal and to win her heart", he looked at Payal with a deep penetrating gaze, who had been apparently shocked.
"Aakashji, aap..."
"Yes Payal, I really want to spend the rest of my life with you. Marry me and be the queen of my heart and life. Let me take care of you for the rest of my life.", Aakash held Payal's hand.
Payal had come become conscious of her surroundings when Aakash had held her hand, yet she was unable to move away from his hold and gaze. Though Arnav and Khushi were present in the room, they were transported to another world of their own.
Before Khushi could react, her mouth was covered and she was dragged away to the living room, by Arnav who had recovered from the shock. Once her mind registered that Arnav had dragged her away from the room, her mind went back to the night of Diwali...
The night when Arnav had almost claimed her...
The night when she had trusted Arnav...
The night when her dignity was questioned...
The night when she missed her parents...
The night when a part of her was mercilessly killed by Arnav...
The night when she was accused of something which she never did...
Tears flowed down her cheeks, landing on Arnav's hand which had held her mouth.
To be continued...
