PART 6. TERI YAAD HUMSAFAR SUBAH SHAAM!
In daze, Khushi walked towards her room where she entered the shower and stood under it. One single tear dropped from her eyes and then another one and then another one. Slowly tears flowed through her cheeks and sobs wracked her body. Arnav had left! After she told him that he had no right on her, he left! He simply left! She continued to sob as pain wrenched her heart and soul!
An hour later, Khushi walked out of the bathroom wiping her eyes and her hair. Her mind was blanked out and she walked out in daze. As she entered their room, her eyes fell on a shirt neatly pressed and folded on a nearby table. It was Arnav's! She went closer and touched it softly imagining Arnav wearing it. She lifted it and hugged it. Just then her tears started flowing again. She had thought she had cried enough in the shower but now it seemed her tears had not yet dried.
As Khushi sobbed, she hugged the shirt and went to sit on her bed. Why? Arnav's voice taunted her in her head. Why are you crying? "Kyunki aap chale gaye!", Khushi spoke out loud. Just then Arnav appeared in front of her and she froze. It was clearly her imagination yet her eyes feasted on him and she refused to look away.
"Main chala gaya toh tumhein kya? Tum toh keh rahi thi ki mera tumpe koi haq nahi? Toh ab kyun ro rahi ho?", Arnav spoke and vanished. Khushi blinked. Sahi toh hai! Hum kyun ro rahe hain? Humne toh kahaa tha humpar unka koi haq nahi! Toh phir hum kyun aaj haq jata rahe hain?
"Kyunki", a soft voice spoke and Khushi turned towards the bed. She was shocked to see herself sitting in the middle of the bed in her bridal wear looking a typical dulhan waiting for her husband. Khushi realised this was how she must have looked the night she got married to Arnav.
The dulhan looked at Khushi and spoke, "Kyunki hum apna haq chaahte the! Hum chaahte the ki Arnavji humse kahe ki unka humpar poora haq hai kyunki woh humse pyaar karte hain! Haina?" The bridal Khushi vanished and Khushi threw herself on the bed and sobbed her heart out. Haan! Hum yahi chaahte the! Hum chaahte the ki Arnavji humpar apna haq jataayein! Humse kahein ki woh humse pyaar karte hain! Kya humne kuch galat chaaha? Hum unki patni hain aur unse pyaar karte hain! Kya ek patni ka apne pati se unka pyaar ki ummeed karna galat hai? Khushi continued to sob.
Days passed and then weeks and Khushi slowly wilted down. The once cheery Khushi started to look depressive. Dark circles highlighted her eyes and her skin seemed to pale and pale more. She lost weight and did not sleep well. The family members saw the change in Khushi but simply thought that Khushi was missing her husband and would be back to normal once Arnav came back. They tried to keep her fed but other than that they could not do much for her.
But Khushi being sad because of Arnav being gone was just one of the reasons. She was sad also because in all these days Arnav did not call her once. He talked to Anjali daily and even to Aakash when he wanted to talk about business but never to Khushi. Whenever Anjali said she would call for Khushi to talk to him, Arnav would refuse the idea citing he will talk to her at night. The family thought they must have spoken at night daily and hence did not force Arnav to speak with Khushi. But Khushi was heartbroken because Arnav never called at night. Arnav was not speaking to her at all!
As the days passed away, Khushi one day realised that this was the life she would have once she divorced Arnav. The thought of not seeing or hearing Arnav for a lifetime seemed horrifying to Khushi. If the last few days were this painful, how will she live without him for her whole life?
While the separation left external impact on Khushi, to an outsider Arnav looked normal. But that was only to an outsider. If his family had been there, they would have noticed that Arnav did not eat as much as he did at home. And Arnav's jogging also suffered as he was filled with distractions and unable to focus on his running. The only thing flourishing was his work life. The separation left him with sleepless nights as he speculated whether giving Khushi space was the right decision or not. So to avoid sleepless nights he threw himself into the conference, tiring himself up enough that he could fall asleep right away and not be tortured by his thoughts. But even then he did not have good sleep some days as nightmares came in form of him going home and finding that in his absence Khushi left him forever. And that is why he never tried to talk to Khushi on phone. Because every time he feared that his nightmare might come true and Khushi would tell him on the phone that she was leaving him. Thanks to that fear he avoided talking to Khushi at all.
As days passed and the day of Arnav's arrival came closer, Khushi started to become jittery. The excitement of seeing Arnav filled her mind and she became prone to accidents. One day she was about to put her hand in burning oil and only Paayal's quick thinking saved her. And then one day, she put salt in the tea for Aakash instead of sugar. After few such incidents, Naaniji banned her from kitchen till Arnav came back. Anjali of course, did not leave the chance to tease her bhabhi about missing her husband so much that she did so many mistakes. Khushi would run away after hearing Anjali's teasing, but not because she was feeling shy but because it reminded her that she had told him that he had no right on her before he left.
Soon the day of Arnav's arrival came and everyone noticed how nervous Khushi looked. But no one commented and they let her be. Morning turned to afternoon and afternoon turned to evening but there was no sight of Arnav. In the evening, a call came. It was Arnav calling. It was the month of baisakh and in Kolkata that brought storms of Kalbaisakh. And one such storm hit the day Arnav was to catch the flight and not only his flight was cancelled but even the cell signal went weak. And hence, he could not call them sooner. And he did not know when he could come back as the storm was bad and he did not know when the flight service and train service would start again. As Anjali kept the phone and told the family what happened, Khushi turned around and ran back into her room. She locked herself and started to cry.
Hey Devi Maiyya! Arnavji ko jald se jald ghar bhej do! Hum unhein dekhe baghair aur nahi reh sakte! Hum unke baghair ek saans bhi nahi le sakte! Arnavji! Ghar waapis aa jaayiye! Khushi prayed as she sobbed.
The night passed and the next day came. And with it came another day for Khushi without Arnav. She sat on the window of her room watching the morning turn into noon and noon into evening. She only left the room to eat and rest of the time she remained cooped in her room, too lost without Arnav to think of anything else. Agar chaar hafte mein humaari aisi haalat hai toh Arnavji ke baghair zindagi bhar kaise rahenge? The question haunted her for the hundredth time. For days she pondered how she would handle the remaining life without Arnav and she had yet to find a solution. As the sun started to set, Khushi gave up. She gave up searching for solutions. She gave up her quest for freedom. And she made her decision. I cannot live without Arnavji for rest of my life. I don't care whether he loves me or not. I don't care whether he is mine or not. I don't care! All I want is for Arnavji to remain in my life. I cannot live my life without him. I cannot!
Khushi remembered how months before her wedding, when her rishta got finalized with Arnav, Arnav had stormed away in anger. Us din jab Arnavji humse shaadi karne ki baat par Naaniji se naaraaz hue the, humne usi din faisla kiya tha ki hum yeh shaadi nibhaayenge! Bhale hi Arnavji humse pyaar na kare, hum unke saath rahenge kyunki hum unse pyaar karte hain! Uss waqt toh humne keh diya lekin uss waqt humein nahi pata tha ki aise rishte ko nibhaana kitna mushkil hai! Isliye shaadi ki raat hum aur seh nahi paaye aur humne rishta todne ka faisla kiya! Lekin iss baar hum apne aankhen khuli rakh ke yeh faisla le rahi hain!
Khushi wiped her eyes. Rishta pakka hone waale din hum nahi jaante thi ki ek tarfa pyaar kitna dard deta hai! Aur shaadi ki raat jab dard saha toh hum darr gaye aur humne unse alag hone ka faisla liya! Lekin ab jaana ki unse alag hone mein kitna dard hai toh sochte hain ki iss dard se kam dard bhara hai ek tarfa pyaar ka dard! Unse alag rehne se achcha hai, ek tarfa pyaar mein rahein! Aur ab toh ummeed bhi hai, ki shaayad woh bhi humse pyaar karne lage! Haan! Hum iss ummeed ke sahaare poori zindagi jee lenge lekin unse alag nahi reh paayengi!
As Khushi made her decision, she stared at Arnav's photo on the mantel. As she looked at him, she softly started singing.
Meri Saanson Mein Basa Hai
Tera Hi Ek Naam
Teri Yaad Humsafar Subah Shaam
Teri Yaad Humsafar Subah Shaam
She got up from her seat and went to the mantel. She lifted the photo and looked at Arnav. Arnavji! Ghar waapis aajaayiye! Hum aapko bahut miss kar rahe hain!
Tu Mere Din Mein Raaton Mein
Khamoshi Mein Baaton Mein
Baadal Ke Haathon Main Bhejun
Tujhko Yeh Payaam
She hugged his photo as tears fell down her eyes.
Teri Yaad Humsafar Subah Shaam
Teri Yaad Humsafar Subah Shaam
Meri Saanson Mein Basa Hai
Tera Hi Ek Naam
Teri Yaad Humsafar Subah Shaam
Teri Yaad Humsafar Subah Shaam
Khushi went to the window and sat on the ledge again. She placed his photo in front of her and stared at his face.
Gham Ki Hai
Ek Badli Chhaayi
Dil Deke
Maine Hai Paayi
She wiped her eyes but tears continued to flow.
Veeraani
Si Veeraani
Tanhaai
Si Tanhaai
She smiled at him through her tears.
Aankhen Bheege Dil Jale
Mile Yeh Chaahat Ke Sile
Lekin Tujhse Hai Mujhe
Na Koi Shikwe Na Gile
Mar Jaaun Toh
Bhi Na Lagaaun
Koi Tujhpe Ilzaam
Teri Yaad Humsafar Subah Shaam
Teri Yaad Humsafar Subah Shaam
Anjali called Khushi down and Khushi went running to meet her, the photo frame with Arnav's photo still in her hand. Just as she reached the ground floor, Anjali smiled at her and informed her that Arnav had caught the flight and would be arriving home soon! Khushi felt her heart thud fast. Arnavji was coming! Arnavji was coming home!
Hours passed and with that Khushi's excitement and nervousness increased too. Her Arnavji was coming home! She would have a look at him after 4 weeks! It was time for dinner but Khushi refused to eat without her husband. She walked in the garden, her eyes stuck on the main gate waiting for Arnav's car to enter. Arnavji! Kahaan ho aap? As she walked, she looked into the photo frame that she refused to put down since the evening.
Meri Saanson Mein Basa Hai
Tera Hi Ek Naam
Teri Yaad Humsafar Subah Shaam
Teri Yaad Humsafar Subah Shaam
She started singing again, her eyes eager to look at her Arnavji. She looked at his photo with longing.
Tere Bin
Kyon Na Ghamgeen Hun
Bin Tere
Kuch Bhi Toh Nahi Hun
As she walked, she wondered what she would do when she came face to face with her Arnavji.
Tere Bin
Main Tanha Jahaan Thi
Bin Tere
Phir Aaj Wahin Hun
She heard a car's noise and looked up but when she saw it was just a car passing by, she sighed in defeat.
Soone Soone Raaste
Hain Sabhi Mere Vaaste
Bojhal Bojhal Dhadkanein
Mere Yeh Gham Ke Din Ginein
Ab Aankhen Gham Ke Pyaale Hain
Pehle The Yeh Jaam
Teri Yaad Humsafar Subah Shaam
Teri Yaad Humsafar Subah Shaam
Just then a car's horn blared and Khushi looked up with hope. It was Arnav's car! Khushi grinned with excitement as she started to walk towards him. Arnav stepped out of the car and the driver pulled out the luggage. Arnav froze when he saw Khushi walking towards him. The driver walked by with the luggage towards the mansion but neither Arnav nor Khushi noticed him. Khushi continued to walk towards Arnav looking at him as if she could not believe he was here! Arnav also could not move because he was seeing her for the first time in four weeks and did not want to move for the fear of her turning out to be a mirage. As she came closer, she realised it was really him and she started to run towards him. The photo frame fell from her hand but she did not care. The photo was nothing but a pale imitation of her Arnavji and she would rather be with the real one than sit and cry with the photo version.
Arnav watched with wide eyes as Khushi reached him and flung herself into his arms. Arnav's hand moved to hug her out of reflex as he remained shocked at her embrace. But the moment he came out of the shock, he tightened his grip on her. As Khushi hugged him, all she could think was that her Arnavji was back! And as he hugged Khushi, Arnav was still unable to believe that the woman who told him that he had no right on her was suddenly eager to be in his arms!
They remained in each other's arms till they were interrupted.
"Khushi bitiya! Humka bhi apne naati se milne do! Aur kitni der gale lagaaogi?", Naaniji's teasing voice came from behind and Khushi took in a sharp breath. Her reality came crashing down on her. Hey Devi Maiyya! Jaane se pehle humne kahaan tha ki unka humpar haq nahi aur aaj unhein gale laga rahe hain! Kitne confuse honge woh humaari harqaton se! Hum bhi na, Devi Maiyya, Paglaitth hain! She pulled away and looked down as Naaniji hugged Arnav. Just then Anjali piped up, "Khushi Bhabhi! Itne der tak gale lagaaya! Kuch toh sharam karo! Saara romance abhi khatam nahi karna tha! Kuch bedroom ke liye bhi bachaana tha!" Anjali teased Khushi and Khushi felt her face burn at Anjali's comment. Unable to handle the embarrassment, she turned around and ran towards the Mansion.
"Sharma gayi!", Naaniji commented as rest of the family hugged Arnav. As everyone turned towards the house, Arnav's eyes fell on something shiny. He frowned. Khushi ke haath se bhaagte waqt kuch gir gaya tha! Lekin kya tha? Kahin kuch keemti toh nahi? He walked towards the thing and lifted it up. As he lifted it, he blinked in surprise. It was his photo! Khushi was looking at his photo! A smile snuck on his lips and soon the smile turned into grin. She did miss me! Khushi missed me! Arnav could not believe it and let out a surprised laugh, feeling happy after a long time! My plan worked! My plan of giving Khushi some space worked! She is falling for me again! Yes! With a grin on his face, Arnav walked towards the house.
Hello people,
Hope you liked this update!
The song is from Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya (1988) and this version is sung by Alka Yagnik. There is happier version too sung by Udit Narayan!
Next up, a sweet dance romance as Arnav launches his next plan!
Thank you, take care and have fun,
