I can't imagine how the writers thought to kill off ASR's character KNOWING how close he was to all our hearts...how Arhi's love story was close to our hearts. We just didn't watch the show...we lived it. For many, it was part of their daily life, our daily dose along with air, food and water. How crazy and sadistic were they to write and shoot such a scene!!!
Arnav has not had an easy life, in fact he was like a walking/talking robot with so much pain bottled up inside him for years until he met and fell in love with Khushi. Khushi's love actually put life into him, and he finally was able to start living a normal life being happy and satisfied. HOW CAN THEY KILL HIM THEN?? Khushi also had a very tough life with such a big tragedy as a kid. Now after much hardship, she has found happiness, then how they can show that she loses her husband...her everything? That is not the kind of show IPKKND is. This would have totally ruined the show's essence...and all the beautiful memories of Arhi that we love to watch repeatedly. Tell me, would you be able to go back and watch your favorite Arhi scene, knowing that ASR has died?!
I don't care what happened behind the scenes, and who left the show. From the story's perspective, from the writer's perpective, from the audience perspective...all that they showed for the past 1.5 years, it totally did not make sense...and would be too cruel for words. THANK YOU STAR PLUS for not showing that.
I still feel they could have continued without Barun by ending the Arhi love story and taking a leap or something else...they are "creatives"...they can come up with other story ideas...if they really cared about to keep the jobs of 200 people as well as keep the audience happy. Or they could have simply replaced Barun... yes the show's main attraction would be lost (Sarun chemistry) but they could have compensated that with some really good storyline!
The fact that they came up with the idea of killing ASR shows that they have not understood the extent of the love that the fans have for this show...how much we cherish this reel couple and what they mean to us. This was not a 3 hour movie, this was a show that we have been watching for over a year! So we have got attached to the key characters like they are part of our lives! This would have killed all the hope and positivity that the show represented for the past 1.5 years.

I would have minded because of all the open story lines they never completed. At least this way, we can forever think they found the closure.

I am SO thankful this was not the end of the ARSHI love story WE got to see! How could the makers even think that people would be ok with this plot?? ASR dying and Khushi becoming a widow?

Also, like someone else on this thread said, we could never have watched Khushi with another man so soon, even if they showed a time leap! This would have really messed with the concept!!

We were all SO invested in these characters that more pain for them would have been intolerable!! Love them too much for that! I am happy that now we can watch old ARSHI scenes without crying buckets and being miserable!!

IF the show had continued, this would have been the most painful week of IPK history! We would all have been totally miserable!!

Yes we are miserable now coz the show ended! But imagine the alternative?? Even if people hated it, bringing in another actor to play ASR would have been much better than killing him!!

I also want to add to my previous post that love stories ending with tragedies is old now! It does not work in today's world anymore. Heer ranjha, Romeo juliet, qayamat se qayamat tak...all became famous years ago. Those concepts don't work today. What famous love tragedy do we have in recent times? None...cause people want to see positive things. They want to see love overcome all obstacles. Times have changed, and love beyond death is no longer romantic...it is just depressing. I still cannot believe that the makers of such a progressive show came up with this idea! I am sure this was the same persons idea who decided to skip arnav's redemption and arhi honeymoon.
