OS: Seeing Light
He waited till she was rushed to the hospital, and slowly made his way to the hospital. What had he done?! He had just tried to kill the one person, he realized a moment too late, he loved with all his being. He had been wrong all along! He had misunderstood his own feelings...! How much he had suppressed his actual feelings! How could he not have understood what he actually felt!
He sneaked into the hospital, and saw everyone dejected and desperate and in shock... What had he done to his own family? He was afraid for the worst, and hid. A doctor walked out of the OT and said something to them, making them all gasp. He was dying to know what happened! Would she be all right? He would never forgive himself if she left him alone today... The doctor walked on, passing him. He quickly called the doctor, and asked, "How is she Doctor?"
"Who would you be."
"Her husband." The doctor softened. "Oh. She is fine sir, but the baby..."
"What? What about the baby...?" He asked, desperate now. Regretting how much he had hurt her in the past...
"We cannot ensure you the baby will survive..."
He could feel the world collapsing around him. It was all his fault... He needed to be with her, but they won't let him... Not after what he had done to her... He watched as she was shifted from OT to the ward, followed by a nurse with a small bundle...his child...in her arms. His child, fighting for his life.
He waited for everyone to leave; he knew they would not go home, but atleast to the cafeteria... He waited for hours. Finally, they were all gone. He sneaked into the ward. He saw her lying there, almost lifeless... his heart broke again. It was his fault. He asked the nurse to leave after confirming he was the patient's husband. He walked to her, and held her hand in his and with the other began caressing her hair and kissed her forehead. "I am sorry... I am so sorry. If our child dies, I can never forgive myself. You have to make it! For our child...For your family...For me. " Her grip on his hand tightened suddenly. HE told her unconscious body the truth; all of it. He painfully watched, as a tear escaped her closed eyes; the grip on his hand did not relax though. He stared at her for few minutes, and the nurse entered again, the baby in her arms. "Sir, you ought to leave now."
He got up, and gently slipped her hand out of his and with a heavy heart was about to leave, when suddenly, he asked the nurse. "Can I hold her? Please?" He plead.
The nurse handed over the baby to him. He stared at eh baby. She had a beautiful face...Just like her mother. As he held her, he could feel his daughter fighting for her life. He controlled his tears, and kissed the baby's forehead. "Its my fault. It will be alright...You will be alright...Your Mamma will be alright... For you...For us..."
He rocked her gently, and handed the baby over to the nurse; unknown to him, two pairs of eyes were watching...
He walked out of the ward, feeling disgusted at himself. He was not a human! He had been a snake! He hoped he would be able to change... But for that he needed to be around her...He did not know how he would live without her... without that little baby he had suddenly grown to love... He made a decision. It was time to tell everyone... Determinedly, he walked to where he knew he would find them. Everyone was sitting and two people were standing; one was woman, a yellow lehenga on her, the other a man, wearing dark brown. They seemed to be consoling each other. He walked staright to Naniji, and touched her feet. "YOU!" Nani exclaimed.
Everyone looked up. The two people who were standing turned, and he expected the worst from them. But both of them just looked at him calmly, as if analyzing him.
"Yes, me. I am sorry Naniji. This is all my fault..." he told them everything. From A to Z, everything... Everyone was stunned. Dadi looked at him with shock... she could not believe her ears.
Nani spoke through gritted teeth. "WHY ARE YOU TELLING US NOW!"
"Hello hi bye, bye! Tum kahe itna cheatwa kiye! Aur I agreej bhith (with) Sasumaa... Bhai (why) tellj us now?! Go phorom (from) here pilleej (please)!" A woman heavily clad in make up said.
He fell to his knees. "Because I realized how much I love her, and the baby! I cannot live without her! Please, give me one chance."
A man in spectacles grabbed his collar. "You DARE to ask for forgiveness!? You wronged TWO people! You played with EMOTIONS of two people and now you want forgiveness!"
"I know I wronged people..." He looked at the woman in yellow and man in brown, "I know I created rifts... but I regret... I honestly do. I want my wife and daughter back!"
The man and woman said nothing. Just observed. He turned to the woman in yellow. "I-I am sorry... What I did to you, and your family was wrong. I am so sorry."
He said nothing to the man standing next to her; he could not bear to look him in the eyes. He just stared at the floor. "I-I..."
Then a nurse walked in. "The baby survived. Congratulations." She smiled.
His joy knew no bounds; tears of happiness filled his eyes. He thanked the Goddess for her mercy. "Sister, and my wife?"
"She is conscious now." The nurse left them. Everyone rushed into the room, and just as he went behind them, Dadi put up her hand. "Stay out! Away from her!"
"Dadiji please!"
"You betrayed everyone! Because of YOU, I wronged Khushi bitiya!"
The spectacled man came and told him, "It is better you leave now," he said coldly.
"I want to see her for one last time." He was desperate! Now that she knew the truth, would she forgive him? Will he ever see their daughter...?
"Don't even-" The spectacled man started.
"Akash, wait." A deep, husky voice interrupted him. The man in dark brown walked up to them, with the woman in yellow behind him.
"But Bhai-"
"Let him go Akash. He needs to meet Di." The woman in yellow nodded in agreement. "Arnavji is right Jijaji."
"But Khushiji-"
Just then, Mami came out, a deadpean expression on her face. "Akash bitua, Anjali bitua Daamadji ko meetwana chahat hai."
His heart soared. Had she forgiven him?
"Akash, let him go," Arnav said.
Not a second to waste, HE ran inside. He saw her sitting against a pillow, eyes filled with tears, his -correction- THEIR daughter in her arms. He ran to her and hugged her; he kissed her forehead. "Rani Sahiba, I am so sorry..."
She replied sweetly. "I know... I heard you..." He wondered how he had ended up with such a wife; sweet and loving after everything he had done.
-OUTSIDE-
"Bhai, How could you-"
"I saw him Akash. Me and Khushi saw him..."
-FLASHBACK-
Arnav froze when he saw the man and was about to storm in, when Khushi stopped him, and asked him to look carefully. He was talking to his Di, holding her hand, caressing her hair, and kissing her forehead. Then, he watched him talk to his daughter, assuring her that her mother would be alright. Khushi was staring too... He had changed, and both Arnav and Khushi knew it in their hearts... They knew it in their hearts that the beast in him had been put to sleep forever, and he had seen light...
OH... and I just wanted to know, who did you guys think it was in the beginning?
Ok...Thats it... Slippers anyone?🤢I am expecting some, though I still feel something like this should have happened so that multiple tracks can be avoided..
