I too think there is more to it...they are just keeping the audience in the dark for now...remember doods told khushi's father could be alive...maybe Sr.Malik blackmailed Garima to act like the other woman and he will take care of Khushi's father...Garima would have agreed for this but both would have never thought that Arnav's mother would kill herself for this and so she is guilty about it.
