YOu know I felt that because Ghandrva Vivaah was done before they consumate I felt that Dushanta may not have felt the need of following the rituals before physical union. You know she was a Rushi Kanaya...and a King doing Ghandrva vivaah secretly and completing the consumation even before the world comes to know.
