Anger seeped through her as she walked no marched through the busy streets. After everything that they had been through he dared bring up the contract again! Khushi felt like a fool once more. And to think she actually thought that he had changed. No he would never change. Khushi knew that every time she came close to believing that he had changed he would do something all over again to make her realize that he could never change.
She had been willing to leave not because she was angry but because no matter what he was like she still loved him. But that was not by choice. Love never happened out of choice. If only she could fall out of love with him as easily as she had fallen in love with him. But no such luck.
She dodged a man selling flowers and further walked towards the temple. Solitude. That was all she wanted. Just a bit of solitude to think things through and calm down before she went back home. Finally she reached the temple. She went into the temple, sat down in front of DM, folded her hands whilst closing her eyes and began to pray.
Meanwhile Arnav was driving his SUV at lightning speed whilst looking for Khushi like a mad man. He knew that unintentionally he had hurt her again. But he had no choice it was the only way to make her stay. For a minute when she had asked him a question his firm grip on her hand had loosened 'Arnavji if you witness Di's unhappiness everyday would you be able to live peacefully and contently?' As she asked him that question his grip had loosened. Because she had spoken the truth. He knew that he would not be able to watch his sister in pain every second of every day. His grip and as it did she moved towards the bedroom door with her little bag in tow. Seeing her ready to leave had shook Arnav so he rushed towards the door and slammed it shut. Just seeing her approach the door made him shudder and enabled a pain to seep through him. If that was how it felt now and she hadn't even left the room then how would it feel if she actually left? NO! He said internally and slammed the door to block her view. 'You can't leave. We have a contract.' He knew brining up the contract would hurt her and make everything they'd been through seem like a lie. But he had no choice he had to make her stay. Selfish it was yes. But in this matter he had no choice but to be selfish. He could not let her go.
When he had been kidnapped all his thoughts and dreams had been occupied by her. All he could think of was her. And now he had to find her. When he mentioned the contract yes the anger had been palpably obvious. But so had the hurt in her eyes which she had tried to hide. She may have thought that she had done a good job in hiding it but she hadn't. He knew those eyes like the back of his hand. He could detect each and every emotion in them with the upmost ease.
He drove further along the streets aimlessly trying hard to think where she could be when suddenly it hit him. She must have gone to the temple close to her maternal home. He drove there in record time.
Just as he approached the temple steps it started to pour with rain. The rain was coming down so vigorously that it managed to completely drench him in a matter of mere seconds. He looked up and noticed that it was now evening.
He had set out to find her in the afternoon and now he had found her hours later. He watched the small vulnerable figure in front of him praying with the upmost vehemence. The rain had managed to hinder his view but there was no mistaking that that was her. His eyes could be hindered but not his heart. The second he got out of the car his heart started to go dhak dhak dhak at a un- normal speed. A speed that it only got to when she was close by.
Meanwhile in the temple Khushi sat still praying vigorously. Anger now gone, she began to cry. She began to speak to her DM as she was her one and only confidant who offered her an ear and listened and did not judge. Khushi had been so deep in conversation with DM that she had not noticed the rain or the time.
Slowly she got up and wiped away her tears and began to exit the temple. Though her tears had merged with the rain making it difficult for a mundane person to realize that Khushi was crying Arnav noticed it. Even if he hadn't been there to witness what had just happen in the temple he could still differentiate between the rain and her tears because each tear that fell from her eyes felt like another stab in his heart.
Khushi could not see the figure standing watching her every move intently as she was too overcome by hurt. After all that happened he still had the audacity to bring up the contract. She thought that the moment he had told her the three words that she had been subconsciously dreaming of hearing since God only knows how long the contract had become null and void. But obviously she had thought wrong.
She stepped out of the temple and wetness drenched her immediately brining her out of her trance. Once upon a time the rain would have cheered her up immediately. But now it did nothing to bring up her sombre mood. Because no matter how hard she tried the rain would not be able to get rid of the dull ache that had crept up and into her heart the minute the contract had been brought up. Because when it had been brought up along with it it broke, crushed and tarnished every single dream she had treasured of them together and their happily ever after.
It was raining so badly that she could not see the infamous SUV that was parked outside the temple and the figure standing beside it.
Arnav could see Khushi's hurt. Arnav also knew that he was the reason for her pain and anguish. He had to take the pain away he just had to. He needed to offer her the comfort that she needed. He needed to offer her the solace that she needed. He knew deep inside what comforted her more than anything else. He could not comprehend it but he knew what it was.
As Khushi walked further out of the temple she could see a silhouette. As she got closer she could see more clearly who that silhouette belonged to.
What she saw took her breath away. There stood the infamous ASR drenching wet with his arms wide open in the most welcoming embrace. Things like this always made Khushi believe that he had changed but then he would do something stupid to make her see how wrong she was. Though time and time again he did nothing more than hurt her it still wasn't enough. It wasn't enough to make her leave.
Almost as if they had a mind of her own her feet began to walk briskly towards her love and then broke into a run and ran straight into his outstretched arms. And the minute his arms wrapped themselves securely around her she was safe. She was home. 'I am so sorry' he said with nothing but the upmost sincerity. Something about the way he said made her believe that this time he was serious.
The rain still continued to pour and hit the ground in a rhythmic manner adding to the serenity she felt. They stood like that in an embrace for God only knows how long. The second they had embraced one another the rest of the world had seized to exist. Time had come to a standstill. The presence of one another and the feeling they felt was all they were aware off.
After what felt like forever he felt his hold on her loosen. He then touched her chin with his index finger and lifted her face up to look at him. With rain water covering her face in droplets never had he seen a more beautiful sight. He moved his hand forward and wiped away the droplets that had fallen on her lips. As his hand grazed her lips in a feather touch he could see the way her lips tremble from his touch, he could see the way her hand crept up to her heart to try and stop it's eccentric beating. He could also see that he was responsible for that.
Looking at this beautiful Greek Goddess in front of him he could not control his urge anymore. Slowly, cautiously he moved his hands to cup her face. Slowly, cautiously he moved his lips forward until they met hers. He began to kiss her in a hungry manner savouring every second of it. He could feel Khushi's reluctance. Though she made no attempt to push him away her lips had stayed still her hands still remained where they were.
Khushi could not move from the shock of what had just happened. Once second she had been standing at the bottom of the stairs of the temple and the next she stood kissing him in the cold wet rain.
Khushi cursed herself because she loved the feeling of his lips on hers. She cursed herself because she knew that she did not have the strength to push him away.
Love was very similar to life. Just like life love doesn't bring you happiness at every turn. Every turn in love is also not easy. Just like you have ups and down s in life you have them with love also. But if we don't stop living life every time it gets difficult then why should we stop loving a person? Because no matter what when it comes to love it's always worth it in the end. Always. So what if their story did not start off with the once upon time that she had dreamt of? So what if he had hurt her in the past? She could still get her happily ever after. He could still make her smile as a way of redeeming himself for hurting her in the past. Yes love like this causes the most worst kind of pain and heartache. But love like this also causes the most happiness and cherished memories.
Khushi knew that this journey that she was going to go through with Arnav would not be an easy one. But for the sake of love it was a risk she was willing to take.
And with that Khushi started to move her hands so that they were wrapped around Arnav's neck pulling him closer to her. At the same time she started to open her mouth she opened her mouth to saviour each and every taste of him.
Standing there kissing passionately in the rain both Khushi and Arnav lived their happily ever after. Yes right now it was perfect. It was everything that Khushi had dreamt of. There she stood in the pouring rain kissing her prince safe in his arms. Finally at home. As if on cue a rainbow appeared arched over them filling that one moment with more colour and happiness than they had ever dreamt of with dreams and reality both merging in to one in bliss euphoria...
Okay so I was a bit hesitant to post this because I was unsure about the ending. But I shall just leave that to you to decide how it was. Do comment and let me know your thoughts.
