That is one explanation.
I feel asr has gone awol deliberately, maybe to get find out about shyam and his background. And has got into trouble. This might be his way of letting kkg know he is in trouble because that is the last thing he would say to her given their last conversation. He might hope that she will recognize the anomaly and act.

What if Shyam finally takes the papers and goes to transfer the property only to learn that ASR has just transferred everything to someone else - maybe the kidnapper and that is the biggest clue for all to know in the family that something is wrong with ASR and he is in trouble ...
