JASMINE
She had gone. He himself had dropped her to Gupta's residence. That was the least that he could do for her.She parted with a sad smile. He couldn't bear to tear away from that place. The fragrance of jasmine lingered in the car. Yes, her fragrance. He somehow managed to go to office. But couldn't concentrate much. There was no lunch made by her today. He felt like going back to his room, no their room. He was already missing her badly. He wanted to call her but didn't want to make him look desperate. He left early .He came to a silent house. There was no laughter of his wife greeting him today. He went straight to their room. The wind chimes were gone. She had removed and placed them near the pool side .He was hit with the same fragrance .How could it be otherwise? He thought. After all till this very morning she was here. It filled his senses. And made him long for her like crazy.
The pink bedsheet of her side of bed was gone. She said it didn't look good with 2 different colours on a same bed. No longer Salman's poster adorned her side of wall. But he could feel her presence everywhere. He tried to sleep but all he could think was about her face, her laughter, her twinkling eyes.
Finally He called her. She didn't pick .
Somehow he managed to pass the evening. But didn't want to leave their room. So he had his dinner in his room. He tried to sleep again. But couldn't as the moon light was invading the darkness of his room. It was a full moon night .The weather outside was beautiful. He pulled the curtains and opened the window facing the pool side.
There was a gush of her fragrance again. The same faint jasmine fragrance. It was so intoxicating. It was her fragrance. And how he loved it. He wondered if she has come back to him. He wanted her so badly and yet she was so far away from him.
He touched her pillow and felt her presence .He found her dupatta kept underneath the pillow. He took it. He felt nice.He felt as if she was near him. He held on to that dupatta and fell into deep slumber full of her dreams. He saw themselves lying on green grass surrounded by nothing else than Jasmine flowers and it was full moon night. She looked even more lovely in moonlight. With her hair open ,eyes twinkling and lips parted in a smile, she looked so enticing ..He slept .
The morning rays were trying to wake him up. But he didn't want to leave her in the dreams. He didn't want the dream to end.
Another wave of her fragrance.
I am going crazy. Can anybody feel any fragrance in dreams? he wondered, still not ready to wake up.
Swami, aapki Chai. She said sweetly more to irritate him.
He woke with a start. Yes she was there with a cup in her hands. Or was he still dreaming?
Now get up Arnavji,I know its Sunday but that doesn't mean you keep on sleeping. See even I have come back. Now get ready ,we are going out,she said in her musical voice.
Yes it was her. She was back after her 1 day stay at her parents.
O Khushi! Stop this Swami, he said trying to be angry with her. He gave one of his best smile reserved for his lovely wife. He hugged her and inhaled her again. He had missed her badly. Just 24 hrs and he felt as if they were separated for eternity.
She looked and smelled like a jasmine. Her favourite , and now his too.
