i feel we do reflect on the news a lot more than we should.. and that was the message today! so the anchor basically points out 2 situations where a husband kills his first wife to remarry. I thought the message was that we reflect and relate to the most meaningless and mindless piece of news that is delivered to us, and even the most serious and terrifying news about social issues is presented in entertaining manner telling us not pay attention to it and more importantly news today only provides us with a topic to talk about but offers very little information about what can be done to solve the issue.

sorry that is just my opinion but good reasoning... we know we all do what khusi did in today's episode sometimes.
