How are you on this sad IPK-less day? 😠The only reason that I could dislike a weekend would be the fact that IPK does not air on Saturday and Sunday 😃!! I know many people are with me!!!
Well, what do I say about the week of 23rd April? Munchy and Maxine's show hit the nail on the head when they described it as ... "Random"!!! It was a week of Gobar Ve's, Gol Gappa Ve's, Dupatta Ve's, weird Ladder Ve but no true Rabba Ve. The impact of the last scene was lost on me because I fear that on Monday, Khushi will be back to her OTTself *shudders* *sighs* *launches in to a hearty cry*!!!
What I have been crying out about since Q4 of 2011 is the fact that the comedy is taking away from the essence of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon. I started seeing IPK from the beginning yesterday and saw how humour was a evident facet of IPK but not the mainstay of the show. We saw heavy duty elements of drama in this show:
- A brother and sister thrown out of their house at a young age
- A broken marriage
- An abused girl
- A heartless tycoon
- Orphan children
- Lecherous son-in-law
- Debt ridden family
- Nearly murdered father (who is now a paralysed by-stander)
There are so many lost aspects of this show. Where are the scenes with Khushi having tea on the charpai and talking to her parents? Where are the self-talks of the leads of the show? I thought Khushi got Arnav to her house to show him the simplicity of her family and the Laxmi Nagar people but all she is showing are her over the top antics which are not funny to say the least. They are cringeworthy. ASR falling in to cow dung, are you serious?
Yes, I know I know. He threw her from the top too but at that time they did not know each other well, they were not married and they were not bound by a contract that said that they would put up an act of being a happily married couple. This is like their 10th public spat. The way the story is going, the redemption, clearing of misunderstanding will not have the desired impact. If anything, it will fall flat.
Barun and Sanaya are extremely talented performers but they are getting a raw deal, we know it. The first 5 months were magical but the charm is lost, the drama has been converted to comedy and the open loops are just increasing. Reducing a conniving villain in to a cartoon, all his efforts to find about a will and forgetting Khushi in the process are just ridiculous.
The creatives are giving us fillers for the last 2 weeks with 1 prominent scene. IPL is not a valid excuse since other shows are carrying on with their story. Why should IPK have to do filler if for other its about usual business? The TRP's are witness to the fact that the comedy track, Khushi's dances, her annoying song and bipolar behaviour are not working with the audiences.
The question is... When will the Creatives and PH understand this?!?!?!
