"Love is blindness,
I don't want to see,
Won't you wrap the night
Around me,
Oh my heart,
Love is blindness..."
~U2, Love is Blindness
'The Tale of the Rearview Epiphany'
Priya, first off, I would love to wish a "Very Happy New Year"--Shubo Nobo Borsho, Baisakhi, Chithirai Tiru-naal--to you & all our wonderful friends!!!π Hope the year ahead brings all of you peace, health & wealth...and of course loads of ArHi in all their glory! Wow, Priya, just a MAGNIFICENT Crooner for an equally stupendous episode! If yesterday's epi was a delicious cake, today's 'icing' was just as sweet and beautiful to look at! Isn't it funny no matter how much we deny something, life always has a way of showing us the truth. Love your innocently eloquent quote at the onset! So apropos!!!! My heart sang many times today; yes,the epic character that is Arnav Singh Raizada spun his magic!
The Awakening: A slippery slope...ooops, floor, right from the start! Khushi questions how he's doing, how he is feeling, if she can help (loved your Nazarian quote here!)...he brushes her off...Almost as a punishment from God, he slips on the oil, which missed its mark on its way to that "extra" luxurious head of hair (ok, most men LOVE head massages; how is it that ASR is not even aware of getting one?π) At the kitchen, the dedicated one gets her applause. Now everyone knows what she's gone through. Tea becomes secondary to her...its all about him. Her guilt and concern about what happened the night before so evident on her beautiful face! The stairway scene reveals so much...you described this beautifully! He remembers the concern, the care, her devotion to him!
The Galti & the Guilty: The scene so VIVIDLY captured by your words! The conversation with himself, his questioning her..Reminding her of her game first--"Swami nahi kahogi"..."Bina galti kiye guilty feel karna...pooori raat pareshan hona..."--Making her aware yet again of how hurt he is, how hurt he was...Your references to the wedding night here are so bang on! Another layer of the truth revealed so subtly! Then the revelation to her that it was all a sham...She doesn't really know him because ASR can play this game just as well as her... NO, better than her! "Shaatir", he says! Just as he reminded her why he is THE A.S.R. after the laryngitis incident! She is about to drop the tray, his hands reach & steady hers! Our clue that though this maybe a game, he is fully aware of who she is to him! That will never change! Then he turns back to look at her...like you said, she doesn't see it, but he knows exactly what he has done...as does another! I couldn't help but chuckle at the foreshadowing here, yaar: GALTI, GUILTY! Both these words have such meaningful implications for ArHi's future! Why do I feel that it will be another long night, but this time a guilt ridden night, which will make him regret these words!!
KUDOSπππ to you for reminding us about the fact that Khushi has never analyzed the meaning behind ASR's words or actions...(the vase scene, the Diwali scene, or for that matter, even her own marriage!) I had hoped right after the marriage they would at least touch upon this (especially when she goes in front of DM & says she will not give up!) The CVs have not done justice to Khushi in this regard!
The Conversation with the Mirror: The week started off with mirrored reflections speaking to him in the Shaitaan and the Sundari tale (doesn't that seem like so long ago now!), and here we are talking about mirrors again! This scene was probably the most poignant Anjali-Arnav scene we've seen since the temple scene when Anjali left the RM because Arnav refused to listen to her on the marriage issue with La. Much better than Anjali's conversation with Khushi! A reflection back to his past where neither the boy and the man ever wants any pain or hurt to affect his loved ones. A simple photograph with the broken glass, tells us how much love this tender, yet fragile, heart holds! His sister reminds him she is his mirror. She knows truths...his truth and Khushi's truth! Yet again, she reminds him what Khushi has done for him! She leaves. The man in the mirror remembers the night before. Yet wants to forget it. Can't help it. *THOSE EYES, SOBTI, THOSE EYES!!!* Its better his LOVE is BLIND!
I want to quote Sylvia Plath here because she captures your title so well: "how frail the human heart must be -- a mirrored pool of thought." Scrambled, indeed!π
Swamini's Shot of Sweetness: Khushi still looks at the whole situation as a game with many rounds. As you said, she hasn't looked beyond the game aspect! I can't help think that this may be deliberate on the CVs part! Games have to end at some pt; she has to start thinking for herself. Dunno know why she is only shown as 'reactionary' all the time. Yes, she is Sanaka devi, but she is intelligent! In light of Arnav's awareness today, this scene was a bit too frivolous for me! A small disconnect! Most importantly, I think the trust factor has been lost! She can never really trust Arnav because in her mind everything he does with and says to her is a game.
Your SIDE views are bang on! The new love square between P, A, M, B!π€£I am happy to see the snake back!π₯³ But I felt that entire scene before his was so disjointed! Khushi is in the room, 2 minutes later ASR is walking in for his shower, then Snake gets there...there was no flow ! And how does snake know ASR takes a 10 minute shower?π
Loved Khushi's red Anarkali...You know ASR was DROOLING!!!!π THE DIALOGUES ROCKED!!!π And, yaar, PLEASE SUVI and YOU need to deliver your SHAVING GIFT SET, STAT!π Ab bahut hogaya! π
Shy, your pics are beautiful! And I miss your doses, too! Priya, you do full justice to them!
And Adele, what can I say! I listen to her everyday!ππ...PERFECT CHOICE!π
Hun, it was great to have you back "FULL TIME" this week!π Please wish your parents and your beloved a very happy Shubo Nobo Borsho from me! I do hope you are feeling better! Hope you and all our buddies have a relaxing and fabulous weekend!!!π€
