Why is Shyam bent upon killing Anjali?

Like many here I've wondered why Shyam suddenly wants to kill Anjali after telling Khushi's dad that he wanted to have both of them (Anjali and Khushi), one for money and the other for love. In fact this itself was puzzling because the guy had initially wanted to marry Khushi while still being married to Anjali which is considered bigamy by law, a punishable offence. Being a lawyer, Shyam should know that. He could have pursued Khushi in right earnest (instead of impressing Buaji), made her fall for him and then had her as a mistress while being married to Anjali.

There are several married men who dupe young girls in real life in this manner. So the question then is why did Shyam not think of this? The answer lies in Khushi's character. She is pretty strong and straightforward and not someone who will easily fall in love and even if in love, will not get into any physical relationship with the person until she is married to him. So if he has to have her, he has to get married to her but he cannot divorce Anjali lest he loses the money. So he thought he can have his cake and eat it too.

Khushi's increasing proximity to the Raizada house was making it difficult for him to execute this devious plan. He tried to cut the ties between the two families but his plans came to nought. Finally he decided to hasten the marriage process. This way I think he hoped that he will get Khushi to lose her virginity, after which even if the Guptas find out his true colours they may keep quiet because Khushi's honour has already been compromised.

Unfortunately for him though Khushi and the rest of the Gupta clan found out his true colours before he could get married to Khushi. Being delusional this idiot thought that Khushi was against marrying him only because he was already married. He thought that if he could remove this hurdle she will come running to him. If he were to divorce Anjali he may not get any money. He cannot afford to lose that. So I think he must have taken a huge insurance on Anjali's life and decided to eliminate her so that he can not only get the insurance money but also win Khushi's sympathy for the sorrowful widower and get her to agree for the marriage. We have been seeing all his fruitless plans since then.

Of late he has been witnessing the growing fondness between Arnav and Khushi. He is, therefore, in a hurry to execute his plan to eliminate Anjali and may hope Arnav wallows in sorrow at the demise of his sister and has no time to pursue Khushi. He himself hopes to swoop in on Khushi in the meantime and get her to fall for him.
