Lots of people here feel that Nani is being unreasonable. I don't think she is wrong at all.
Nani can see right through Lavanya.

Ok so Arnav says atleast she is trying. Did she really try? There was a shot today that showed that she was on the phone while Mami was doing all the work. She was touching up her makeup.
Hmmm how many of us go into the kitchen to touch up our makeup while we cooking. Cooking for a family of 8 is not small business. Esp if you have never cooked before and the responsibility is on your shoulders. I feel her effort could have been genuine.

Coming to the point of why put La through the cooking ordeal in the first place. They're rich they can afford cooks. Well a wealthy family and extremely religious family who probably place offerings of food to God before eating themselves will prefer to cook themselves.(this is just a guess but even if its not true) I know many families who can afford a cook but the women of the house prepare the food themselves. Now which mother would be happy to have her son marry or be with someone who will just feed her child food cooked by another when she is so particular about what they eat in their own home. I am not saying those who have cooks are wrong. But for a matriarch who doesn't run her household this way its wrong.

Ok forget all that the woman doesn't even know the names of the food and what all things are called. Even when she has to tell her servants what to feed Arnav and kids if they ever have any. What would she say to them?? Would she be even aware that they are getting wholesome nutrition.

Now on top of it all she got caught lying. Ok fine she didn't even make the food but Nani clearly proved she wasn't even bothered to learn. Nani asked her what goes in certain dishes. She had no answers. If she had willingness to learn atleast she could've payed attention to what was going on. But she just wanted to get the task off her shoulders. Remember when Mami asked if she put salt. She didn't even remember. Because she didn't care enough to pay attention.

Her effort was so not genuine. And thats all nani is trying to prove. That she is not genuine. Fine Arnav doesn't care but still which Nani would want her grandson to be with someone like that.

Well...Lavanya did try to cook at first, but she was terrible at it which is why Mami took over. I don't think it was fair of Nani to ask Lavanya in the first place, who had never cooked before, to prepare the entire dinner by herself. Instead, Nani should have helped and taught Lavanya. If Lavanya then wasn't putting in any effort, then Nani could have called her out on it.

I'm definitely not saying that I like Lavanya or the fact that Nani dislikes her is wrong. BUT not being able to cook is definitely not a good reason. Instead, Nani should focus on showing everyone Lavanya's true character. She obviously isn't so goodhearted! She treated Khushi terribly for no reason.

But I really think that knowing how to cook and knowing all of the traditions aren't really important characteristics. Her willingness to learn these things is more important.

@bold : La didn't even attempt to learn...agreed that she is not a cook and she was upfront about it with Nani but if she has accepted to cook (which she shouldn't have in the first place - she should have refused if she was not able to do it), she could have paid attention to what Mami was doing. Mami herself is not a great cook as per Nani but she was still accepted by the matriarch - wasn't she?

i feel the same.if we think from nani's perspective ,she is right.nani despite of her displeasure for la is still ready to give her a chance but la is not at at all interested.she can't spend the rest of life staying ignorant of the kitchen chores.i may sound weird but i believe that cooking for ur family kind of improve ur bonding with ur family.a woman feels immense pleasure when she cooks for her husband and kids.it's a different feeling.personally ,i couldn't get to do alot of cooking before getting married but i knew the basics and now i love to do it for my family.no matter u hire a cook or u have many servants at home but atleast a woman should have the basic know how of the house chores.it is as important as getting educated.u may not have to do it or be a 24/7 maid but should have the common sense to do it.i find it weird the way la is acting like a goof in the kitchen.she may not have ever cooked, fine but failing to differeniate between a butter knife and the other is so ridiculous.no wonder nani is miffed with her.

Its true Naani has experience and has seen more people, so probably, one look and a small talk with La, she exactly knows what the lady is made of. Its kinda surprising that La, does not know the basic stuff in cooking. Its true people dont have to know all the recipes of all the dishes on the planet. I have seen even the most wonderful of the cooks, refer to recipes online or from other cooking books etc. But this madam noes nothing. Its such a pity.
And you're right. What would she feed her husband and her kids? How long is she going to be surviving on some cook or some servant or some restaurant food? 😆😆😆 And even to assist the others, she would have to know some basic stuff right?
I dunno if she's really that dumb or if they're just protraying her that way, to bring out the clear cut difference between Khushi and La.
But its kinda ridiculous. And like you said, she does not even make an effort. Like Naani would not know the difference, if Anjali or Manorama cooked and La claims that she did.
Maybe she shud have atleast shown the interest in learning, that would have impressed Naani. But not even trying and completely depending on others, is not a good sign.
See, she could be disinterested in cooking, that's a different story. But when given a task, I guess there has to be some effort. She very well knows, Nani would test her in every way possible, so why take a chance. Why not just put the efforts in the right direction. Instead of trying to get rid of it, or get over with it.

I totally agree with u...Nani is absolutely right!! If La had the intentions of actually making a good impression on Nani then she would've genuinely tried her best to cook...n that would've shown Nani that yes she doesnt know how to cook..but for Arnav and the household's sake she is willing to learn!!!

I agree asking her to cook for the whole family was unreasonable. But what other tactics can one use to get the truth out. Desparate time asks for desparate measures. I mean i honestly feel Nani is a genuine character/person. If La really had tried she may have given her credit for trying. Even if she had said Nani I don't know how but I really want to learn and try my best. It might have worked. Maybe melted Nani's heart a tad bit.

Also you mentioned a willingness to learn. But thats what was missing. If she really had tried she would have atleast known what went in these dishes. But she was barely able to ans anything.
