Now that the office track is back, Khushi could be expected to do some serious office stuff. So here's an OS on how Khushi made her first presentation and how Mr Arnav Singh Raizada was stumped by the brilliance of our Jalebi girl.
"Hey Devi Maiyya, why do my troubles never leave me? So back I am and back you are from where we started, the Raakshas's office. But do we have a choice? No!
Had you saved Babuji's shop from debt all this would not have happened? Had Jiji's marriage happened? Had I not met him- then what you ask me? We would have been sitting happily in Lucknow munching jalebis together, but no more complaints, since neither you nor I can help it, back to work.
Don't know what strange work he has planned for me today? Ever since I joined this office I, Khushi Kumari Gupta, had been doing the strangest and crappiest things on this planet like taking measurements of male models, tying letters dictated faster than the speed of wind, organizing the parking lot, taking care of fur coats, doing calender photo shoots, getting trapped to death in a dilapidated guest house or rather bhoot bungalow in which even a bhoot would be afraid to enter. I could go on and on about that Laad Governor but---"
"Miss Gupta come to my cabin." His voice and presence always gave her the jitters, but what could she do. She meekly entered the cabin expecting the Lion Singh Raizada to pounce on her for some unknown or imagined fault of hers.
"Why were all the faults in this world written on her head even when she did not make any?" she thought. But who would explain it to him, she heaved a huge sigh at this unflattering thought. "His girlfriend La Mam made colossal mistakes in her own silly way, but he never seemed to notice any. Why does he always notice mine then?" She miffed under the injustice meted out to her in comparison to La Mam, not that it made any difference to ASR.
"Ask La what work you have to do in connection with our next project. I will be busy today." Khushi Kumari Gupta had immediately decided in her heart of hearts to offer 200 jalebis to Mata Rani for her rare grace in protecting her from ASR for at least a day. She was bursting with a hundred beautiful emotions which could not be named when ASR cut her short telling she could go now and she had eaten enough of his brain.
"La Mam, not particularly bad if you see that way, only thing called her Chamkeli, but any day better than that Laad Governor", she thought. La, buried in her facial pack, had asked her to make a presentation on their new line of bridal wear fusing elements of both tradition and modernity.Wah! Sounded very exciting to even hear, would be even more exciting to actually work, she thought. "You may leave now. I'll tell our designers to meet you and give all the required information. Save the presentation on my laptop so that I can use it for tomorrow's meeting." La blah blahed.
"But Mam would you like to have a look at it once after I get it ready today evening? I can incorporate any suggestions you may have." Khushi suggested. "Enough. Can't you see I still have my manicure, pedicure to do? I'll see it tomorrow. " La said cutting Khushi off for interrupting her beauty regime.
THE NEXT DAY: MEETING HALL
ASR finishes an impressive presentation on AR Group of Companies and says "Lavanya, my colleague will give you further details on the bridal wear line we have planned"
La gets up in her own silly and inane manner and taps her laptop screen for the presentation, when she confronts with a blank screen. "Oh! Her laptop had screwed up. ASR will kill me", she thought. Ah! Chamkeli! This would be an opportunity to shove her out of AR by showing how pathetic she is! "Sorry, gentlemen! There is a slight modification. My associate, Ms. Khushi Kumari Gupta will do the presentation."
ASR goes a blank white. He angrily whispers to La, "Have you gone mad? Khushi?"
La: "I know ASR, but my laptop is not working and Khushi prepared the presentation. So you know we can't help it"
Khushi gives a pen drive to the LCD operator and begins on the presentation. "An Indian Bride is defined by her bridal finery..."
Everyone has fallen off their seats after witnessing the most elaborate, informative and interesting presentation on the project. The clients were praising her to no end, and she was literally beaming with smiles at being appreciated by one and all for her talent, when Arnav said, "Good work, Khushi"
"Did she hear properly?" She rubbed her eyes and ears in astonishment. She even pinched herself to make sure it was not a dream. The Raakshas had complimented her! She would go crazy now!
