I always wanted to list those little nuances in scenes that make an episode. When I watch a scene, I keep wondering, if those little variations one notices on screen comes from the writer by spelling it out for an actor to perform or it is added on by actors playing it. If it belongs to the director's vision/writer/actor, each can credit themselves accordingly. Its for THEM.
One such scene that I'd mention is about the time when after Fruit Punch, Shivay and Anika wake up together and today's scene where they are happy to cuddle off to sleep. From an onlooker's point of view it's amazing to see the transition in their relationship. It is so simple yet powerful to see the intimacy translate in the simplest way as Anika bonds with Shivay by the slight touch of her fingers on one hand over his on her shoulder. It's beautiful. Such cuteness makes the scene so endearing.
Another would be the scene where Anika keeps multiple alarms hoping to get that never ending 5 mins ka beauty sleep. I for one can relate to this ENTIRELY.
Shivay banging himself a little on the corners of the bed makes me wonder if the scene only demanded Shivay to open his eyes and realize it was not Oberoi mansion or if that slight banging was also written out on paper to add the nuance of disorientation/lack of cognition in the new place.
The ande waala bread/French toast reminded me of Kangana from Queen, French toast only found in India.
The new house with its greenery is beautiful beyond words. I love the way Shivay and Anika wave at each before he goes out. There is charm in this domesticity, something we did not witness when they were packed in OM.
Their kitchen looked very much like the place where Rudy was strapped to the bomb.
Shivay dealing with bureaucracy is dream come true. SSO with his Oberoi tag . The mayor knew him and the Govt official didn't. Warna majaal hai kinhi ki to sit that way with legs on the table in front of SSO??. Tad exaggerated but maybe there are such namoones' too.
Overall I like the nuance where it is taken care of to maintain Shivay bearing the dejected low sentiment yet trying to be cheerful by taking the new development in his stride, he even mentions to Omru that they MIGHT turn resourceful for the family eventually. I loved the dialogue given to Om where he goes like "Tu mere saamne hota na...In the usual scenario one expects him to finish the line with ek thappad lagata or something to that effect but on Shivay demanding to know he says Zor se gale lagata and not let you leave. I loved Rudra's reaction too as to what Om might say to Shivay. That surprising expectant look he gives to Om to know what he might say is another lovely nuance.
I loved the super fast transition from "Ab Shivay Singh Oberoi sabzi khareedega? To Haan Khareedega. More than Shivay, I am feeling so restless that Shivay is using up all his cash, pehle at the phone store... tod todke identifying and buying his brand and Keep the change with the sabzi guy.
Though there was nothing new in Shivika's visit to Ahaana and her hubby's home, I can't believe I sat through the episode to watch ShivayAnika. Just saying this cos it was Smiriti and her character of her first show that eventually landed me on IF 8 years ago. That's a long time now.
Anika is bad at mathematics, she can't speak fluent English, she has a weird vocabulary, all this is part of her characterization. She can't cook, she can't wake up early, and her lack of qualities that society approves as that of an ideal wife is definitely refreshing. Having said that, I'd still want her to be DOING something she is good at. It can be her catering orders or event management or anything that portrays HER talent. As of now, her only job is to be the support to Shivay. It's all taken in good spirit. But, man or woman, kuch toh talent hoga that one can be proud of.
NOTE to Readers
Would like to hear from people who can keep the discussion/responses civil.
I haven't talked about all characters that appeared in today's episode. So this is not a discussion on episode.
I've talked about three/four characters and hence can't fit the discussion in one actor's AT.
