Part 4
This was the moment; she was going to meet a whole group of people she had never seen in her life but she was extremely close to. Her feet carried her automatically down the hall and down the stairs where she came face to face with a group of unfamiliar people...
Ram and Saakshi stood at the door inviting their guests in meeting them happily with big smiles on their faces. Ram hugged Daadi and welcomed them into his house whole heartedly. Anika watched from the stair way as Saakshi showed them through the kitchen to the living room and she followed.
Ram: Come in...sit down... - pointing to the sofas
Saakshi: Betiye Ba...Jhanvi... - wide smile
Anika peaked in from the kitchen to see that they were all seated and chatted away about the long journey. She could see Daadi sitting next to Ram looking very fit for an old person, she was not in aid of a walking stick or needed support from anyone, Anika thought she looked like she was fifty when really she was seventy-five; she chatted away with her son happily and looked really excited to be here. In the double seater were Tej Chachu and Jhanvi Chachi and a young boy in between them who looked around the room curiously. Anika was about to stick her head further into the room when Saakshi walked into the kitchen to find her.
Saakshi: Anika? - confused - Why are you standing here?
Anika: Nothing mama... - straightening up
Saakshi: Scared?
Anika: A little...
Saakshi: It's okay... - grabbing the tray of glasses - ...come...
They walked into the living room and Saakshi shared the glasses of water to everyone when Ram noticed Anika.
Ram: Anika...come... - turning to them - ...everyone...this is Anika...Ba...your Gudia... - smiling
Anika walked over to Daadi who stood up and embraced her, Anika was extremely touched by the love she was receiving and hugged her back contentedly.
Daadi: Itni bari ho gayi hain meri Gudia... - moving back - ...bohot pyaari lag rahi hain...come sit with me...
Anika sat next to her and looked around at everyone quietly.
Tej: Bhabi...does she talk? - teasing making Saakshi and Ram laugh
Saakshi: Talk? - laughing - ...Once you get her started she doesn't shut up... - then calming down - ...it's just that she's just recently found out...so it's still a surprise for her...
Jhanvi: Anika...don't worry...relax... - smiling
Anika: Ji Chachi... - shyly
Daadi: I'm so happy that we're all together...everything's cleared up...after seventeen long years I'm getting to see my family sitting together happily...that's all I wanted... - then to Ram and Tej - ...thank you beta...
Anika: - looking up in surprise at her - Wow Daadi...your English is very good... - surprised making everyone laugh
Daadi: Of course...living with you these kids... - nodding her head towards the little boy - ...they taught me very well...
Ram: Sahil? - turning to the young boy - ...Why are you so quiet?
Tej: - turning to Sahil - I've never seen him so quiet...
They all turned to see the little boy staring wide eyed at Anika, he had been watching her ever since she stepped into the room. His brother and sister who were sitting opposite him giggled at his sight and Jhanvi put her hand on his shoulder to wake him up.
Sahil: Huh? - loudly looking up making everyone laugh
Jhanvi: What's wrong?
Sahil: Nothing Mum...
Saakshi: Chalo...aap log bohot tak gaye hoge...I'll show you to your rooms...
Tej: It's okay Bhabi...we're fine...
Saakshi: Theek hain...feel at home no formalities okay... - to Jhanvi and the kids then turning to Anika - ...Anika...show them around...
Anika stood up with Sahil following her instantly, the other two also stood up and they walked towards the conservatory while the ladies stayed seated and the two brothers went out to bring in their luggage. Anika walked them into the conservatory and they settled down looking around awkwardly, all thinking of what to say to each other while Sahil carried on staring at Anika.
Sahil: - turning to face her he held out his hand - Hi I'm Sahil...
Anika: - shaking his hand - Hey Sahil... - smiling
Priyanka: - holding out her hand - ...Hey I'm...
Anika: - cutting her off - Priyanka...right?
Priyanka: - smiling cheerfully - Right...
Anika: Abhay... - turning to him
Abhay: Yep...Anika...
Sahil: Can I call you Ani...?
Priyanka: You should be calling her Didi...
Sahil: NO! Ani...is that okay? - to Anika
Anika: Yeah...that's fine... - smiling - ...come on...I'll show you around...
They got up and she took them upstairs; she showed the boys' their room and then they went into her room which they all liked, Sahil liked the balcony and Abhay mentioned that the garden was huge. They chilled on her sofa set and bean bag looking around the room getting to know each other better. Anika and Priyanka jelled instantly, Priyanka was happy that she finally had some female company and Anika watched on as they teased her and she was annoyed. Anika, Abhay and Priyanka chatted away about school, hobbies and interests while Sahil kept butting in and annoying his brother and sister. Sometime later they went back downstairs, Anika and Priyanka went into the kitchen with Saakshi and Jhanvi and once again Sahil followed.
They chatted generally over dinner then spent the rest of the night catching up with events over the years; the young ones sat in the conservatory playing a board game which Sahil insisted on. Anika found him very cute and adorable; he was ten years old and was the attention seeker of the family as he was the baby. They slept late that night, all excited about meeting a whole group of new people Anika had forgotten about the dream she had the night before and also about Shivaay. Just as she closed her eyes his image popped into her head making her eyes snap back open. She thought of calling him but then remembering his voicemail this morning she decided against it and slept with a frown on her face.
The next day Anika and Priyanka woke up at the same time and spoke about life in general. Anika felt great to have some company as this holiday had seemed very boring and Priyanka felt really good to finally have some female company at home. When they were dressed they decided to play a prank on the guys; they snuck out of their room with tubes of toothpaste and into the boys' room silently. The signaled to each other, Priyanka pointed to Abhay and Anika pointed to Sahil. The slowly tiptoed around the room until they reached the boys beds, using the toothpaste they made funny expressions on the boys' faces, giggling silently they moved away and clicked photos on their phones then when they were done they tickled the bottom of their feet making them jump out of their sleep.
Abhay/Sahil: Aaarrrggghhh!!!!
Anika and Priyanka quickly sneaked out of the room while Abhay and Sahil looked around at each other and started laughing at their expressions then stopped.
Abhay: What are you laughing at? - to Sahil - ...Look at your face...
Sahil: What's wrong with my face? - touching it - ...Oh no...it's on your face too...
Abhay: - touching his face - What? I'm going to get them... - jumping out of his bed
Sahil: Me too...
They stomped out of their room and towards Anika's room but when they entered the room was empty, looking around they couldn't see anyone and decided to go down and get them. As they reached the bottom and walked into the kitchen all the ladies were in there, they turned to see them and started laughing. Abhay and Sahil burnt in embarrassment but the girls wouldn't let them go.
Jhanvi: What happened to you two?
Saakshi: What's all this?
Priyanka: Badi Ma... - laughing - ...they don't know how to brush their teeth yet...
Anika: Kya? Sahil is still young but Abhay? - looking shocked with laughter
Abhay: We'll get you back for this... - to Priyanka and Anika then walked away
Sahil walked towards Anika with the toothpaste tube, she looked at him sweetly to make him stop but he walked towards her then quickly spraying it on Priyanka he ran away from there leaving them all shocked and Priyanka shouting at him. They all calmed down and had their breakfast.
Anika: Where's Papa and Chachu?
Saakshi: They've gone to the office...
Anika: Okay...
Priyanka: So what are we doing today?
Saakshi: Anika why don't you show everyone around the place...
Anika: Okay that's fine...
That morning Anika took them out around the area, to a few high street shops their local places then they came back by lunch. Once they had eaten they chilled in the garden messing around with water guns which Sahil had brought along. They had great fun then finally when they were tired they rested on the deck chairs when Anika got a phone call from Gauri.
Anika: Hello?...//Hey Gauri...what's up?...// Actually my cousins have come down for the week...//Yeah long story...// - smiling - ...Okay...//Yeah sure why not...//We'll be there...//Okay bye... - hanging up the phone
Sahil: Who was that?
Anika: A friend of mine...do you guys want to go down to the park?
Sahil: Yes... - cheerfully
Abhay: Okay...
They went to the park and walked up to the gang; they were all there and for the first time Anika felt a pang in her chest as she realized Shivaay was not there and she missed him, it was now two and a half days since she had heard from him and she felt really weird, and this made her angry again that he had not called her but she decided not to let it bother her.
Anika: Hey guys... - smiling - ...everyone meet my cousins...Abhay, Priyanka and Sahil... - putting her hand on his shoulder making him smile widely
Rudra: Hey... - holding his hand out to Abhay
Abhay: Hi... - shaking his hand and looking around at everyone
They settled down on the grass and chatted away introducing themselves. Abhay kept looking over at Bhavya who didn't seem in the mood at all. While Rudra tried to show off to catch Priyanka's attention but she ignored him completely as she chatted away with Gauri. The guys decided to play football, Omkara and Abhay against Rudra and Sahil and the girls carried on talking.
Gauri: So Priyanka...where are you guys from?
Priyanka: We're from Yorkshire...
Bhavya: Anika you never told us you had family...
Anika: - laughing - I never knew...
Gauri: What?
Anika: Yeah...that day...after meeting up with you guys at the Mall I went home and mama papa told me that we have family...something happened seventeen years back when I was a baby and they separated but...
Bhavya: But what?
Anika: You guys remember Shivaay's accident time mama and papa were not here...
Bhavya: Yeah and you stayed with Gauri...
Anika: Hmm...that time mama and papa went to Yorkshire...Daadi was not well...and they sorted all their problems...
Priyanka: They came to my house...everything was sorted out then...but even we were as surprise to know that we had family when Badi Ma and Bade Papa came to our home...I can't tell you how shocked we were...but at least everything is solved and we came here...like I said to Anika finally I have some female company...
They all laughed and carried on chatting while looking over at the guys. Rudra was showing off with the ball, it was more like the three guys against Rudra rather than two on two. They were having great fun kicking around the ball being immature and Sahil enjoyed being with them, he suddenly grabbed the ball and ran away with it making the three other guys run after him, they chased him around the park until he came and sat next to the girls.
Sahil: You guys are so slow... - when they caught up - ...Ani...your friends are really unfit...
Abhay: - ruffling Sahil's hair - And you're flash right... - dropping down on the grass next to Bhavya breathing heavily
Omkara: You're quite good Sahil...
Sahil: Only good? - making a face which made the others laugh - ...I'm the best!
Anika: - giving him a hug - You are the best...
Gauri: And very cute...
Priyanka: He's a devil in disguise...he's just fooling you guys...
Rudra: Are you really? - turning to Sahil - ...Hi5 dude... - holding up his hand to Sahil
Sahil: - giving him a Hi5 - Yes...
Bhavya: How old are you?
Sahil: I'm ten and a half...
Abhay: Ten...
Sahil: And a half... - sticking his tongue out - ...I'm going to secondary next year... - boasting
Anika: That's nice...
Priyanka: One year later...
Omkara: You guys always argue like this? - leaning his head in Gauri's lap
Sahil: They always tease me... - making a sad face
Anika: Aww...that's not very nice guys...
Sahil: Ani I think I'm going to stay here with you...I'm not going back with these two...
Abhay: Good riddance...Anika you can keep him...
Anika: That's mean Abhay...
Rudra: - getting up - C'mon guys...one more game...
Abhay and Omkara stood up but Sahil stayed with the girls saying that he didn't want to play; he imitated Omkara by lying in Anika's lap and loving the female company.
Bhavya: So how long are you guys staying here?
Priyanka: For a couple of days...
Gauri: That's nice...we should meet up and do something tomorrow...what say Anika?
Anika: Sorry Gauri...sounds good but I think dad has already made plans of going out tomorrow...I'll find out and get back to you guys then we'll see...
Sahil: I like hanging with you guys...for adults you guys are really cool...
Bhavya: What are you trying to say...adults are boring?
Gauri: Let's get him... - teasing they all start to tickle him
Sahil: No...stop...sorry...sorry... - laughing and squiggling around
Anika: Okay... - laughing - ...okay stop guys...
They settled back down and carried on talking for a while longer as they watched the guys kick the ball around seriously, Rudra had taken off his shirt and once again started showing off as he knew the girls were watching them, he dribbled the ball while Omkara and Abhay hovered around him trying to snatch it but was a bit slow, Omkara speeded up a bit and tackled Rudra at the same time as he was about to shoot, the ball went in the opposite direction, flying towards the girls it lowered to the ground and smacked onto Bhavya's head making her wince in pain, tears sprung to her eyes immediately and she stood up. She stomped towards Rudra who was also walking towards the girls to get the ball.
Bhavya: Oi Rudy...Can You Not See What You're Doing? You Stupid Cow! - fuming
Rudra: It's not my fault your head is so big... - shouting
Bhavya: I don't know why you even try to show off when you're so bent...
Rudra: I'm not bent...you're the blind one...
Bhavya: You're blind...kicking it in the wrong direction...
Rudra: I wasn't kicking it in the wrong direction I was aiming for your big head! - squaring up to her
Bhavya: Get lost...
Rudra: I think you should...you know that you're not wanted here then why do you tag along like a leech...
Bhavya: - stuck for words - You...
Rudra: Exactly...you know my words are true...it hurts...but by now you should get the idea...you're so slow...
Everyone else stood around not bothering with them, each rolling their eyes as to say "here they go again and the others watching on thinking what was the big idea but suddenly they realized this was going the wrong way when Rudra threw insult after insult at Bhavya who stood there almost close to tears. Omkara and Anika ran towards them; Gauri stayed back filling in the others who looked on very curiously.
Omkara: Rudra that's enough...
Rudra: No it's not enough Omkara... - spat out angrily - ...she starts it then ends up crying and you all blame it on me...I don't even know why she tags along... - to Bhavya - ...loner...
Anika: Rudra! Stop it... - putting her hand on Bhavya's shoulder - ...leave her alone...you should've been careful...that ball could've hit any of us...
Rudra: It was an accident but she took it so seriously...
Bhavya: Why wouldn't I take it seriously... - on the verge of tears - ...that was so forceful...
Rudra: It was suppose to be...you idiot...
Omkara: Rudra calm down...and apologize...
Rudra: No Way! It was an accident...
Anika: Just apologize and end this here...why are you making such a scene...
Rudra: Never!..It was not my fault...if she doesn't know the meaning of accident then she needs to go back to primary school... - spat angrily - ...I'm out of here man... - walking away in the opposite direction
Omkara: Rudra... - shouting after him
Rudra: No Omkara...I'm off...
He walked away leaving everyone watching him, Omkara went back to Gauri and the others while Anika stayed with Bhavya.
Anika: Bhavya...forget about him...come and sit...
Bhavya: No Anika...I don't feel like...I think I should go home...
Anika: C'mon Bhavya...don't be silly...forget about what he said...come... - she dragged her back to the gang
They settled down and carried on chatting away, Bhavya stayed quiet but Abhay tried to cheer her up.
Abhay: Hey... - making her look up with his whisper - ...you wanna go for a walk... - she shook her head to say no - ...c'mon you'll feel better...
Abhay stood up and held his hand out to her, everyone watched on as Bhavya took his hand and stood up.
Abhay: We'll be back... - Anika nodded as to say thanks
They walked away leaving Anika and Gauri smiling mysteriously at each other.
