Short Shot - || Letting Her Go ..||
"I told you to consider taking a flight!" he exclaimed as he ran along with her dragging the suitcase behind him and, her bag in hand.
"offo...You know how uncomfortable I am traveling by air! She hushed in a ragged breath running towards the second platform dragging a black trolley bag, her sidebag swaying to and fro as she ran and purse in hand and a water bottle in another.
"Shivaay, see the train is here!" she said excitedly.
"Acha hua bata diya mujhe toh pata hi nahi thaa!" He said catching his breath.
She made a face and stopped bending down slightly panting.
"i told you I wont miss it..!" she said smiling.
"I knew, you won't!" He said smiling faintly, which did not go unnoticed by her.
He nodded adoring her smile. "But I still stand to it that flight is anyday better option!" I mean look at it, its so...unhygenic... " he spoke looking at the train's compartments' exteriors and crowdy.. he gulped looking at the people trying to fit in.
"But it gives the most memorable journeys! " she smiled looking at the train. Oh how she loved the tunnels the train went through, the fields it passed. The sunrises and sunsets she had witnessed, all reminding her that likewise life was just a journey with different places, co-passengers and changing destinations.
He admired her beauty. This was exactly why she was beautiful. She was different, her outlook, her aspirations her dreams everything about her was so different , so beautiful, so serene.
"Okay now...get on before you miss it!" he told her as the train's shrill whistel broke their thoughts.
She hurriedly got on and he passed up the luggage. He was about to climb when she stoppped him. "I will manage!"
He stood staring at her, as her moist eyes looked at him.
"I know." He smiled.
"Come along?" she said pleading.
He chuckled softly, masking the sadness with great efforts and keeping the moisture off his eyes.
She held his hand. His gaze was fixed at their hands, he couldn't afford to look at her, he would be defeated. He had taken a decision of Letting her go... and he couldn't afford to be selfish now.
"Anika, main neev hoon, aur tum,..." he looked at her his head raise to meet her eyes,
"...you are like that branch that rises higher and higher, that sings with the sky, that shines with the sun, that smiles with the sky.
"I will always be here for you. " he said looking at her intently.
She got off the train and stood before him. "You won't forget me?"
He nodded in a no."Never."
"Go". he slipped his hand out of her grip. It was getting hard for him. She looked at him as though still re-thinking her decision. He was her home and she was chasing her dreams. But, one did have to loose sight of home to see the world.
"Thank You." she whispered. She knew how much more harder it was for him to let her go, to give her the wings she had always wanted, to giver her the assurance that he would always be there for her no matter what.
"Take Care" he said cupping her cheek. She was wild, untamable, that is what made her different, and so special. Her wildness was something he had fallen for.
Then how could he tame that wildness and chain the free bird that was meant to soar free and wild into the unknown, for himself. He would kill his love that way.
"Take care of yourself, too " she smiled at him as her voice choked.
He smiled as tears made way, she knew him better than he himself did. She knew his family was his first priority always even before himself. Thus she had used the word too.
"Ab...Jaao.."
She turned to climb back on to the train when she turned suddenly, "Can I get a hug?"
"NO." he nodded vigorously tears rolling down his cheeks.
She looked at him with pleading eyes.
He was scared, he would hold her too long, too tight crushing her freedom.
He took one step closer and engulfed her in a bone crushing hug. She hugged him back holding him close as though her heartbeat depended on it. They has never verbalized their feelings for each other, they never has to. They knew their friendship had grown to something bigger and beautiful.
She sniffed, as he broke apart kissing her forehead, she gently kissed his palms and tunred without looking at him as the train steadily began to move. She looked at him as he grew smaller and smaller in her vision, still waving at her.
Were goodbyes so hard? He din't know.
Was the chase to dreams so expensive? She knew not.
Was being wild so hurtful? She din't know.
What was their love's fate ? They knew not.

This was supposed to be a longer story, but with the ongoing events and my busy schedule, wrote this.
