Part 3
Shivaay loitered in the main hall with Uncle Tej, as their guests were due to arrive at any moment. The Chadda's were Uncle's guests from Dubai, apparently bringing a marriage proposal for Om. Om obstinately stood in the corner, not even bothering with small talk. Shivaay was already waiting for Om to refuse this alliance at the get go. Om is not the type to fall in love at first sight, definitely not instantly for a pretty face, especially if his Dad was involved. He never could stop Om from fighting with his father. All he can do is keep the peace.
But today another thing was niggling at his peace of mind. Annika has not appeared. He had sent Khanna to keep tabs on her, as he worried that her life was still in danger. She had gone to the bank and several offices and then to run some errands. She had come back home an hour ago, but still was yet to appear here with the family.
An entourage of cars arrived at the driveway. The Chadda's had arrived with some of their local relatives, the loud sound of grown men laughing and making acquaintances filled the hall. From nowhere, Tia appeared at his side, winding her arms around his. He threw her an irritated look that achieved nothing. In fact she squeezed his arm excitedly as his mother began introducing them as a couple.
Feeling sick to his stomach, he stood silent like statue. He knew without looking, that Annika was around somewhere nearby, exactly at the time when he didn't want her to be. He smiled stiffly and shook the older man's hand in greeting, as Tia gushed over pleasantries. He felt nauseated that Tia was being sympathized with about his shooting incident, when it was other people who suffered more over it. Resolutely he kept Tia a small distance away, as businessmen spoke of their trade.
Turning casually, he spotted Annika, a vision in soft pink. Her soft wavy hair , flowing freely just as he liked it. Her make up was minimalistic today, her eyes accentuated with glossy lips, her skin soft and beguiling. He longed to put a blush on her face. His heart was pounding with the thought of going close to her.
She resolutely avoided his gaze, and pointedly didn't wear the mangalsutra and sindhoor again. He was having a hard time concentrating on the business talk. Tia sat by his side and annoyed him to no end with her attempts to butt in into the conversation.
At the corner of his eye, he spotted a young man approaching Saumya and Annika. He seemed to have caught them into an entertaining conversation, as the two girls began to giggle and laugh as he spoke with them. But the bloke's eyes were fixed on Annika the whole time.
Damn you Annika, for not wearing my mangalsutra. This moron thinks he can hit on my wife?
Shivaay's hackles rose and he coughed loudly."Maybe we should ALL move to the dinner table?" In a stern that meant to tell Annika to behave. She , however, didn't bother to even look at him.
Luck wasn't on his side. He ended up having a direct view of Annika and this fop sitting together at the dinner table. Rudra and Om were enjoying this , seeing Tia heap food on his plate, trying to look like a doting wife. Rudra and Om were sniggering like schoolboys and all he could see was what was going on in the corner of the dining room.
That man was talking about types of cuisine, explaining to her how each one differed and how the tastes were. Annika listened raptly and laughed enchantedly at this man's anecdotes. Who IS this guy anyway? Shivaay grumbled. The man even dared to offer a critique of the food served today and suggested how it could be improved. This has got to stop!
"I'm sorry, if you thought that using cayyenne peppers instead of paprika would've enhanced that dish more. I will personally suggest this to our sous chef, thank you for the suggestion" Shivaay remarked loudly.
Annika and Aditya Chadda looked up , surprised at the rude intrusion into their private conversation. Aditya smiled sheepishly, "I apologize Mr. Oberoi, It is rude to comment on the food served to you at dinner. I was just describing to the lovely Ms. Annika here, how different cuisines use different spices alternatively. So sorry mate!" And he went back to chatting to Annika softly.
Shivaay grit his teeth at the words "Ms. Annika" and glared at Annika, who rolled her eyes heavenward and turned so her bangs would cover her face. Om and Rudra laughed conspiratorially.
God knows what business deals were made that evening, but Shivaay watched Annika talk animatedly with this Aditya Chadda all evening. He was charming her and she was responding. She laughed softly and became so girlish that it drove him up the wall. He was praying for this infernal evening to end so this man would go away.
He reached the end of his tether when he saw the man pluck one of the roses from the arrangements and presented it to her.
Annika blushed .
What the hell ! That's the limit. He'd had enough.
Blushing is his area, no one else gets to make her blush but him !!
He got up as she took the rose with a whisper of thanks. He arrived with full tadibaaz to snatch Annika's hand , but at the same time the guests got up to leave. In that bustle, Shivaay had grabbed Annika's hand and marched her into her room.
Slamming the door shut and locking it, he backed her towards a pillar. She raised her face defiantly and pushed him back.
"You can't behave like this with me."
"Like hell I can't "
"How dare you? "
"I dare, Annika. I Dare!! You're mine, get that in that skull of yours. Don't test my patience !!"
"I'm not your anything, Shivaay !!"
She struggled and wiggled to be let free, as he sought to keep her detained.
"STOP IT! You're MY WIFE, Dammit! Mine!! I won't let some moron come flirt with MY WIFE, and make her blush and all. I'd rearrange his face, if I saw him around you again !"
Annika was stunned at the words Shivaay was saying, her eyes bright and luminous.
"No one else can touch what is MINE. No one." he said as he felt all the emotions at once. "I can't bear it, Annika. Don't torture me like this..." he closed his eyes, and Annika watched him with tears in her eyes. Overwhelmed with the emotions, she flung her arms around him and hugged him tight.
Returning the lung squeezing fierce hug, he sought out her lips feverishly, trapping her in a kiss that took her breath away. This side of Shivaay no one has ever seen, so passionate that it is a little scary. There was no scope for thoughts as he poured all of his love in that one wet kiss.
Panting for breath, Shivaay pulled back a little, found the mangalsutra. With the most gentle expression in his eyes, he attached it around her neck, sealed it with a short kiss. Putting the vermillion, he felt overcome with emotions as tears spilled from her eyes. Cupping her face they kissed some more, somehow words had no place in between them now, as they reached out to show each other how they felt.
If anyone wondered where they were, they wouldn't have answered. Shivaay kissed her senseless and she gave back with innocent passion. As he undressed her slowly, she asked, "But we're divorcing, Shivaay..."
He paused in between unravelling her to give her a fake look of surprise.
"What divorce papers?" he said with such innocence, and amusement.
"The ones we signed in front of Tia, and Mr. Mishra?"
"I didn't sign anything.??" he said teasingly, and received a relentless tickling from his wife. Laughing uncontrollably, they collapsed on one another. He looked so handsome, laughing so freely that she kissed his cheek fondly. Pleased with the display of affection, he grazed her cheek and tucked her hair behind her ears.
"Main aapse bohot pyaar karta hoon, Shivaay..." she whispered softly. "Don't ever leave me , I'll die."
His eyes grew serious and a deep blue. "Never. Where you go, I'll go too. You're my life."
Their passion came alive that night. There was no more place for doubt and uncertainty between them. Shivaay became a husband, and Annika , his wife.
*THE END*
Hope you enjoyed it. This was just sitting in my head from last night, and I just had to get it out before I start procrastinating the plot again.
I know, Shivaay has a lot of NKK hang ups that I didn't address here, I'm saving that for my other pending SS..đ
Love you guys, thanks for all the love
