Based on a crazy idea I had. I hope you guys like it:)

...***...***...***...***...***...***...***...***

"Thank you Mr. Chaddha," said Annika, as she took the white envelope from the middle-aged man's hand. He smiled at her. "It's my pleasure Miss Annika!"

"Agar firse koi party arrange karna ho toh I'll call you up. I'm really impressed by your work at our Annual Charity Function this year," he added.

"Zaroor!" Annika said, as the man nodded and left her.

As Annika left the office that afternoon, she was beaming with pride and dreaming all sorts of things in her head. "Shaadi ke baad meri pehli kamayi hai. Isse dadi ke liye ek achha sa suit lungi," she said to herself. "Aur ha Sahil ke liye new school dress, new shoes! Ek kaam karti hu new bag bhi le leti hu!" She talked excitedly.

She got into an auto at the auto stand and described the address to her present house, the Oberoi Mansion to the driver.

She called up Sahil and gave him the good news. "5 lakh Sahil! Mujhe sabke liye kuch na kuch lena padega. Main tujhe abhi ghar se pick up karungi aur uske baad hum shopping jayenge! Ha theek hai, ice cream bhi khayenge," she laughed at her little brother's demands. "Chal abhi thodi der mein milti hu," she hung up.

Later that afternoon, as both brother and sister walked the driveway leading to the doors of the Oberoi Mansion, Sahil posed the question that has been bugging him for the whole day. "Didi humne sabke liye kuch na kuch liya, but aapko nahi lagta aap kisi ko bhool rahi ho?" He asked, raising his tiny eyebrows. Annika faked ignorance. "Huh? Kaun?" She said, even though she knew very well who he was talking about.

"Bagaad billa didi! Aap unke liye kuch lena toh bhool hi gayi!" He said.

"Tujhe badi yaad aa rahi hai unki? Nahi lena mujhe unke liye kuch bhi!" She made a face.

"Didi yeh toh achhi baat nahi hai. Aapne sabke liye kuch na kuch liya. Aapki pehli salary hai aur aapko unke liye bhi kuch karna chahiye!" Sahil loved that man for some reason she couldn't quite understand, and she knew she couldn't win on a fight with the little monster - he was just too smart, so she just shook her head.

"Chal abhi zada baat mat kar. Jaldi chal, bohot der ho chuki hai," she said as she helped him ascend the stairs to the mansion, lost in thought over what Sahil had just said.

...***...***...***...***...***...***

"So you're inviting me on a date?" asked Shivaay, clearly amused at his wife's face which had turned red as she tried to make her point. He loved irking her, knowing very well the effect his actions and words had on her.

Annika was already kicking herself inwardly for even starting this conversation. That Sahil, he always played with her mind and made her do things she shouldn't.

"Nahi!" She protested vehemently now. "Bilkul nahi!" She said again, shaking her head.

"Then?" He said, taking a step toward her. She moved back instinctively.

"Dekhiye," she said, and her eyes went wide looking at his smirking face. "Aap...aap baat ko samajh nahi rahe hai. Main bas aapko bula rahi hu. Khane pe. Aap bade log nahi karte woh, jaise aap woh phone pe kehte hai na," she said, mimicking Shivaay "'I'll talk to you over dinner' bas waise hi, mujhe aap se zaruri..baat..karni hai..." She trailed off as she saw the expression on his face.

Shivaay laughed inwardly. He was clearly winning this one.

"That's what I'm saying," he said, taking another step forward. "Ab tumne pure moholle ko toh invite kiya nahi hai...You've asked me. Tum apni pehli salary se mujhe dinner pe le jaana chahti ho." He closed in on her and put his face on the same level as hers. "It's a date."

Annika blushed harder as she tried to take a step away from him, but she was trapped between him and the wall. She looked away, breaking away from his stare. "Aap...aap rai ka pahar bana rahe hai," she said, stuttering a little. "Seedhi si baat hai, aapko jana hai toh chaliye warna...warna," she stopped short of words.

" Warna kya?" He whispered, making an innocent face.

She closed her eyes, " warna... warna main akele hi chali jaungi" she said finally, threatening him. Shivaay burst out into laughter.

"What?" He gasped between the chortling, "Tum hamare dinner date pe akele hi chali jaogi? You are mad, Annika, just...mad!!" He said, shaking his head. Annika looked on incredulously at his face.

He moved away from her and turned to leave the room but then paused. "Time?" He asked.

Annika was trying to calm down her heart, which was galloping at full rhythm at this sudden closeness. "Huh?" She exclaimed, still in a daze. Then she shook her head and "8...8 baje ki reservation hai...aap chal rahe hai na?" She asked, looking at him.

He nodded. "It's your day Annika, celebration toh banta hai." He said softly, and then he looked at her and winked. "It's a date," he said as he left the room, chuckling to himself.

...***...***...***...***...***...***

At 7:30pm sharp an impatient Shivaay Singh Oberoi paced the halls, muttering to himself, "Yeh Annika kaha reh gayi...mujhe ready hone ko bolke khud itna time laga rahi hai," he said, looking at his watch.

OmRu had been keeping a watch at him from a distance for some time now. Finally Rudra came forward.

"Bhaiyya! Kaha jaa rahe hooo?" He asked, raising his eyebrows multiple times consecutively. Om smiled.

"Woh Annika..." Shivaay started to explain but stopped short, his eyes fixed on Annika herself, who had just stepped out of their room into the hall.

She was wearing a beautiful navy blue anarkali with white embroidery lining the kameez. Her hair fell in waves till her shoulders and ended in curls, while a few small ringlets caressed her face. She smiled at them as she pulled one away from her eyes a little self consciously, revealing blue stone ear rings dangling from her ear lobes. The big blue stones were lined by small diamonds which caught the light and shined brightly. She was aware of Shivaay's adorning gaze which was - as he'd described it in his own language once - checking her out. Color rose to her cheeks as she walked over to them, toying with her purse.

"Wow bhabhi!" An awestruck Rudra was the first to comment.

"Bhabhi you look stunning!" Om couldn't stop himself from saying it either.

Shivaay was still looking at her, and Annika checked him out once herself too. She was pleasantly surprised and raised an eyebrow - he was wearing a black suit over a blue shirt - which she had picked out for him that evening. He hadn't wanted to change but it seemed like he had changed his mind, afterall. He shrugged and looked away.

Rudra was trying to understand what was happening here. "Aap dono eksath bahar jaa rahe ho? Woh bhi itna dress up karke!" He tapped his chin. "Haww! Kahi, kahi aap dono date pe toh nahi jaa rahe ho na?"

Both stole a quick glance at each other and shook their heads simultaneously.

"Main sab samajhta hu," said Rudra. "Aaplog akele hi date pe jaa rahe ho. Kisiko meri fikar nahi hai," he ranted dramatically. Om hit him hard on the back of his head. "Kuch bhi bolta hai tu Rudra. Yeh inki pehli date hai, tujhe kyu sath mein leke jayenge. They want to spend some time alone. Samjha kar," he said, winking at his younger brother.

Shivaay was embarrassed. "Aisa kuch nahi hai," he said gruffly.

Annika narrowed her eyes. "Accha? Andar toh aapne kuch aur hi kaha tha?" She said, now relishing her chance to get back at him in front of his brothers.

"Achha, kya kaha tha bhaiyya ne?" Asked Rudra instantly, making an innocent face..

"Kuch nahi, it's nothing," Shivaay shook his head hard.

Om laughed. "It's ok Shivaay. We get it. Enjoy, you two," he added and before Rudra could say anything else, dragged him away.

"Aap apne bhaiyon se itna sharmate kyu hai?" Annika asked, laughing. "Kamre mein toh aap bohot tadi maar rahe the! Aur yaha ekdum chhui mui lajvanti ban gaye aap inke samne!"

Shivaay glared at her. She shut up at once, then cracked up again. Shivaay grunted as he suppressed a smile himself. "Ab chalo, we're already late." He said, and they walked out of the mansion, hand in hand.

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments🤗 Here goes part 2:

***...***...***...***...***...***...***...***

"Kaha chalna hai?" Shivaay asked as they settled into the car.

"Huh?" Annika said, fidgeting with her seat belt.
"You didn't tell me the name of the restaurant. Reservation kaha ki hai?" Shivaay asked again.
Annika told him the name of the hotel. Shivaay was shocked. "It's my favorite restaurant!" he exclaimed.

"Haa, woh maine Om ko pucha tha." she said absent mindedly, as she tried to put the belt in place.

Shivaay closed in suddenly and she gasped, losing her grip on the belt. The elastic recoiled and the belt moved back into its original place with a sound. Her heart raced. He slowly, deliberately lingered over her as he put one arm around her and pulled it back, fastening it around her. The lock clicked into place.

"Toh tumne mere upar kaafi research ki hai," he stated matter of factly, starting the car. Her eyes flew to his face, then she shook her head and looked away, at a loss for words.

And even though it was dark, even though he was looking straight at the windshield, he knew it for a fact that Annika had turned bright red in the face.

A smile crept up his face. He had won round two by a clear margin.

...***...***...***...***...***...***

The restaurant was sparsely populated when they arrived. An orchestra played in the background, and a few couples swayed to the music on the dance floor. As they entered the room, a waiter welcomed them graciously and escorted the lovely couple to their table. Shivaay drew out a chair for Annika and then sat down himself. He thanked the waiter and asked for a two glasses of water. The waiter left them.

He found himself looking at his wife again, who was looking around and taking in the surroundings. She was looking exquisite today and he couldn't quite take his eyes off her this evening. Suddenly she was conscious of his stare and looked back at him. For a moment they shared a glance and then looked away awkwardly.

"Hum menu decide karein?" Shivaay asked, trying to make conversation.

"Maine pehle se hi bata diya hai kya kya laana hai." He raised his eyebrows. Anika explained quickly, "Woh actually maine last jo party arrange ki thi woh isi hotel mein hui thi. Tabhi meri manager se achese jaan pehchan hogayi. So maine saare arrangements inhe pehle se hi samjha diya hai."

"But tumhe kaise pata ki mujhe kya pasand hai khane mein?" He asked.

"Bas pata hai," she said, looking down.

Before Shivaay could talk again, the waiter came back and asked Annika, "Maam, aapne jo jo order kiya tha sab kuch taiyaar hai. Serve kar du?"

"Ha, lekar aaiye," she said. The waiter walked away and came back with a giant tray.

"Black olive in melon feta cheese salad
Vegetable au gratin
Penne in basil and pesto sauce
Grilled basa in peri peri sauce and with ratatouille - " he rattled out the names as he set down the dishes on the table one by one.

" - and dessert mein Tiramisu hai," he added. "Woh abhi serve karna hai ya main course ke baad, maam?" He asked.

"Main course ke baad," she said and thanked the waiter. He walked away.

She looked at her husband who was staring at her, his mouth slightly open. "Tumhe ab tak yaad hai? Itne dino baad bhi?" He asked with a tinge of incredulity in his voice. It's been ages since that day, the day before rakshabandhan, when he had told her about his favorite dishes.

"Toh aur kya!" She smirked. "Maine kaha tha na, aapko pata nahi hai but mera dimaag bohot tez hai. Roz 7 badaam khati hu main," she said, tapping her forehead with her index finger and making her famous gesture.

"Thank you," he said, with sudden emotion. She looked at him and felt her heart picking up pace again.

He served the food and they started eating.

"So," Shivaay said, "tumne kaha tha ki tumhe mujhse kuch zaruri baat karni hai? Over dinner?" He asked, reminding her of the afternoon's conversation.

She nodded. "Main aapko shukriya kehna chahti thi," she said.

"For what?" asked Shivaay, confused.

"Aapne mere liye, Sahil ke liye jo kuch bhi kiya, uske liye. Sahil ko aaj iss shahar ke sabse achhe school mein jaane ko mil raha hai, woh aapki wajah se. Mujhe bhi aaj kaam karne ka mauka mil raha hai, woh bhi aapki wajah se. Agar aap Pinky aunty se baat naa karte toh yeh kabhi nahi hota," she said. Her voice cracked up a little. "Meri puri zindagi mein mujhe kisine kabhi support nahi kiya. Kabhi koi tha hi nahi. Par abhi..." She looked away and blinked to hide the tears cropping up in her eyes. "Thank you, mera saath dene ka liye," she said, looking back at him.

He put his left hand on hers. "No Annika!" He said, his voice thick with emotion. "Ajtak maine tumhare sath jo bhi bura kiya hai, uske aage yeh," he shook his head, "nahi, uske aage yeh sab kuch bhi nahi hai. Tum aaj jo kuch bhi ho, apne dum par ho. You deserve it." He gripped her hand tighter. "And I'm so proud of you," he added.

Despite all her efforts, tears had started escaping her eyes. She rubbed at them, embarrassed. He let her take her time.

"Waise main bhi tumse kuch kehna chahta hu," Shivaay said in a lighter tone when she was done.

She looked at him. "Kya?"

"You're looking beautiful today," he said, smiling. She blushed instantly.

"Aap mujhe taadna band kijiye," she mumbled as she took a fork-full of penne into her mouth.
"I want to know you," Shivaay blurted out suddenly.

"Kya?" She was confused. "Aap mujhe jaante toh hai!"

"No, mera matlab hai main tumhe janna chahta hu. As a person." He said.

She was still trying to comprehend his words. "Matlab? Main samjhi nahi."

"Matlab," he bent his head so he'd come closer to her. "Matlab, I want to know the real Annika. Jo bahar se sabko dikhti hai woh wali nahi," he said pointing towards her. "Jaise hamari shaadi hui," he paused and Annika looked at him as the memory of the said day rose to her mind. "Jaise maine tumhe mujhse shaadi karne pe majboor ki thi," he rephrased. "Uss ke baad se itna kuch hogaya ki mujhe tumhe jaane ka mauka hi nahi mila. Main tumhare sath time spend karna chahta hoon, tumhe janna chahta hoon," he spoke with conviction.

"Aapko jo puchna hai aap puch sakte hai," she said, taking a sip of water. Shivaay took a second serving and then looked at her.

"Well, mujhe toh tumhara favorite khana tak nahi pata. I mean, except for aloo puri ofcourse," he rolled his eyes and smiled.

She pretended to think. "Hmm. Mujhe vada paw bohot pasand hai."

He was taken aback. "Woh kya hota hai?"

Her eyes widened with amusement and shock. "Aapko vada paw nahi pata?? Sach mein nahi pata? Aap Mumbai mein itne saal se kya kar rahe hai Shivaay?"

He was completely abashed at her reaction. "What do you mean kya kar raha tha!" He retorted quickly. "Mere paas 'vada paw' khane ke ilawa bhi bohot saare kaam hai okay!"

She held up a hand. "Pata hai aap kya kaam karte hai!" It was her turn to roll eyes now. "Bade aaye tadi maarne wale, vada paw tak nahi khaya kabhi! Kal hi main aapko leke jaungi and aisa top ka vada paw khilaungi na, uske baad aap apni ungliyan chaat te reh jayenge," she said, making a gesture of licking her fingers.

"No thanks! Yeh sab unhealthy cheezein khake na mujhe bimaar nahi padhna. No, no thank you," he put up his hand.

Annika gasped at the frank insult. "Unhealthy! Kisne kaha aapse?" Her voice rose a little as she leaned over and tapped the table to make her point. "Aapko pata hai woh vada paw wala hamesha apni cheezein jaale se dhak ke rakhta hai. Aur uske hath! Hath mein toh woh gloves pehenta hai, billuji! Gloves, jo doctors pehente hai!" She said all these in one breath and finally paused for some air.

He loved to see her get worked up and couldn't stifle a laugh. "Yeah, I know gloves kya hota hai," he said. "Okay it's a date then," and before she could say anything he went on, "waise tumhe nahi lagta hum kuch zada hi fast jaa rahe hai? I mean aaj hi hamari pehli date hai, aur kal firse..." He trailed off with a naughty smile.

Her mouth flew open. "Nahi! Bilkul nahi! Kisne kaha aapse ki yeh ek date hai?" She protested vehemently.

"Come on Annika. Humlog ek sath dinner kar rahe hai, ek dusre ke baare mein baatein kar rahe hai. Ek dusre ke baare mein kya, hum toh tumhare favorite vada paw wale ke baare mein bhi baatein kar rahe hai. It's a date," he asserted firmly.

She opened her mouth to say something but he stopped her. "Okay, okay. Chhodo uss baat ko. Khana khatam karo, then let's leave. Mujhe tumhe kuch dikhana hai." He said. Dessert was served right then.

"Par hum jayenge kaha?" she asked, as soon as the waiter left them.

He smirked. "That's a surprise."

Here goes part 3:

As the car pulled up to the small square building, Annika glanced around nervously. It was one of those areas of the city which housed mostly the offices and the business houses and was desolate at that hour of the night. Shivaay pulled into a parking space, killed the engine and walked out. He then walked over to the other side and opened the door for Annika.

"Yeh kaunsi jagah hai Shivaay? Yeh aapka koi office hai kya?" She asked, getting out of the car.

"Nahi, mera office nahi hai," he said, taking her hand and leading her to the door of the building.

Shivaay took a small key out of his pocket and unlocked the panelled door. It opened into a wide hallway, adorned on both sides by a few ornamental vases and murals. The hallway led into a small lounge on the left side - which contained a sofa set, a few chairs and a coffee table. One wall of the room was completely made up of dark glass. The hallway passed the lounge and stretched on till a closed door at the end. On either side of the hallway, three other doors led into three dimly lit rooms, and though she couldn't see what was in there, they looked like work place cubicles to her.

It was a office alright but with a more homely feel. She had no idea what they were doing here.

"Shivaay, yeh hum kaha aaye hai?" She asked again. He didn't answer but lead her softly to the end of the hallway, to the closed door.

The door opened into a big room with a big glass window at the back, covered with shades that matched the colour of the walls. There was a huge work table at the centre which took up most of the space of the room. There was one big brown chair on one side and two smaller ones on the other. On the right side of the room there was a small sofa set, along with a beautiful coffee table, over which stood a brown paper bag. There were two ornamental vases and a lampshade on the corner. The floor was covered with a soft brown carpet.
Shivaay pulled her to the back of the room, near the glass window. Then he made a sweeping gesture across the whole room and turned to her, "Yeh room kaisa laga tumhe?"
Annika was perplexed. "Bohot achha hai, par..."

"Par?" He asked, smiling.

"Par aap yeh sab mujhe kyun dikha rahe hai? Yeh kaunsi jagah hai Shivaay aur hum yaha iss waqt kya kar rahe hai? Yeh kisika office hai kya?" She asked.

"Ha office toh hai," he said, taking a step forward her and taking her hand. She looked away from his eyes.

"Kiska?" She asked as she looked around the room for a clue when her eyes caught the photo. A beautiful picture. Of her with her brother Sahil.

Her eyes jolted back to his face as he smiled knowingly.

"Tumhara," he said softly, putting a hand on her cheek. She could not speak, only looked at him, still confused.

"I know tumhe ghar se kaam karne mein kitni takleef hoti hai, Annika. Waha bohot saare dusre kaam bhi hai, aur bohot saare distractions. Plus, tumhe apne partners se alag se meetings arrange karni hoti hai and clients se bhi khud milne jaana padhta hai, it's a waste of time. Yaha tum aaramse apna kaam kar sakti ho and clients ko bhi bula sakti ho. Tumhe apne partners ko bhi alag se milna nahi hoga, woh bhi yaha eksath kaam karenge. I have arranged everything," he said, looking into her eyes.

She stared at him, wide eyed. He looked worried. "Annika, say something!" He said, narrowing his eyes.

Tears started to cloud her view. She felt weak, for the first time in her life she did not know what to say. "Yeh sab..." She tried to say something but couldn't. But he knew what she wanted to say.

"I know yeh sab bohot zada hai and tumhe dusro se kuch lena pasand nahi hai, but it's a gift Annika. And you deserve it. Tumne aaj tak mere aur meri family ke liye bohot kuch kiya hai," he said his voice quivering with emotion, as he took a step forward and kissed her on the forehead. "Main bas tumhare liye kuch karna chahta tha. I hope you like it," he spoke looking into her eyes.

"Shivaay maine kabhi nahi socha tha..." Her voice broke. "Aajtak kabhi kisi ne..." She tried again but she couldn't complete the sentence. He rubbed away her tears. "Patni ho tum meri, haq banta hai mera," he said, smiling a little. He was taken aback when Annika hugged him with sudden intensity, almost sweeping him off his feet with the force. She kept her head on his chest and cried silently. He hugged her back and soothed her. A few minutes passed by till she was composed enough to speak. "Thank you," she whispered feebly against his chest. He kissed the top of her head.

She pulled back finally and rubbed away the tears. Then she moved forward and caressed the top of her work table, as she took in every detail of the room once again. Her room. Her office.

Shivaay walked around to the coffee table, picked up the paper bag and pulled out a bottle of champagne and two glasses. He popped the cherry and filled the glasses, then moved over to her.

"To your new office," he said, handing over the glass to her. She smiled.

He drew the big brown chair and made her sit down. Then he swivelled the chair around once as she gasped. He laughed. For a minute they both looked at each other. Finally he made a move and tucked a strand of hair behind her ears. "You're beautiful," he said aloud, for the second time in the same evening.

"Aap bhi aaj bohot achhe lagg rahe hai," she said, as she blushed at her own bluntness.

"Sirf aaj?" He raised an eyebrow and chuckled softly. "So tum maanti ho that you are checking me out today, huh?" He said.

She bit her lip. Then she said something that she herself could not believe had come out of her own mouth. "Aaj nahi. Hamesha karti hoon." Shivaay was taken aback. His eyes widened. A smile played at his lips as he contemplated her words.

Her eyes shined with emotion. She arched herself closer to him and put one hand on his face. Her fingers gently trailed the contours of his face, his jaw and finally rested on his shoulder. Color rose to ger cheeks.

His heart raced as his mind registered the effect he has on her. He bent over the chair and kept his hands on either side of her face. She shivered a little as his fingers touched her skin, then closed her eyes. He paused for a second to revel in the beauty and the innocence. He tipped her face upwards as he closed the gap between them and put his lips on hers.

At first the kiss was tender, as their unsure minds battled with the implications of what they were about to do. But they couldn't stop, their minds were under a spell. The kiss grew deeper, more passionate. Her hands knotted in his hair, his hands caressed the sides of her face, clutched her hair as their lips moved in synchronisation. Soon, they were gasping for breath and had to break free.

She kept her eyes closed as she tried to control her breathing. Her chest rose and fell rapidly. He touched her face tenderly, then kissed her eyelids.

"Thank you, for the beautiful date," He said, his voice a mixture of exuberance and amazement over what they had just experienced.

She opened her eyes. "Aapko kisne kaha ki yeh ek date hai?" She asked, her face serious. He narrowed his eyes.

They looked at each other for a moment as a smile crept up their faces slowly. It was a date they both would remember for the rest of their lives.

THE END
