The song echoed in his heart while the walls of his mind protested at its crudeness. One after the other, each moment relived, each argument reinvented, each touch replayed, he stood vacant, staring at the space she had claimed as soon as she had entered it. It echoed with her voice, her laughter, her music. It was hers. Like he-
What was he doing? What was he thinking?
Perhaps he himself had no conscious idea, he only knew he was lost every time she stood in front of him, or around him. His beautiful eyes turned of their own accord to stare, to take in each gesture, every tiny glimmer of the life he called Anika.
His hands knew hers intimately, after all, why else would they be so reluctant that he had to force his brain to let go of hers, finger by finger?
Each touch was life affirming, a life he would be throwing away, a life he couldn't dream of, it was held so deep inside a need to love her.
And so, he thanked her and let slip in moments, the void he could feel enveloping him every time she uttered what may as well be her final words to him.
While he could only watch her go...his heart yearning, his mind ruthless in its control
