"Ishana..." Omkara savored the feel of her real name on his lips.
"Om, please give me a chance to explain." She could taste copper on her tongue and fear in her hesitancy.
Life had been fickle enough to trap her into her own charade.
"You're not bela." Omkara staggered back after a momentary lapse of admiration. His fists unclenched as his anger left him. "I don't know you..."
Ishana saw his resignation and knew she had lost. She could have fought with anything except acceptance, how was she supposed to shake him into understanding her side of the story when he decided to see her betrayal for what it was not for why she did it.
It had been too late by the time she realized what she had done. The tale she wove with every intention to leave behind a broken Omkara, instead left her in tethers as she held on to every piece trying to stay focused on her goal.
What exactly was her goal? Dupe the guy into marrying her?A marriage built on her lies would have never survived, except the unavoidable still happened as she left a trail of ruins behind her. She broke the bond of three brothers, and there was no forgiveness in Omkara's hallow eyes.
Even if he ever could learn to forgive her, how would she excuse herself?
"My brothers are in pain because of you!" He said as a matter of factly. It was not a accusation, neither a question rather a sudden burst of emotions causing upheaval inside. "They won't see me, or even listen to me because I chose..." stuttering, he ran his hand through his hair. "I chose to trust you. I chose to love you. You who is nothing but a farce called Ishana! " Even as he said the name, it came out feeling foreign. A distant memory he knew existed, but didn't want to remember.
"Omkara, I didn't want to hurt you."
"Looks like your intentions got mixed up, because..." Placing his index finger underneath her chin, he forced her to look him in the eyes. He wanted her to see what her pretense had led to. "I am hurt. You fed me a illusion and strung me along like a fool."
How could she explain it to him, it was she who was the real fool because her act of pretending to fall in love with him had never been a act to begin with. In truth she had not been deceiving him but her own self.
"Where are the papers?"
Ishana looked away. "I don't know what you are talking about."
"Okay, than let me explain it to you. I want the papers you tricked Shivaay into signing, him relinquishing all controls of Oberoi industries."
"Shivaay is not a child, he knew what he wanted."
"No, he did not." Omkara bellowed. For the first since she told him the truth he felt like screaming his lungs out because now it was about his brothers. A subject he did not take lightly. "He was told to choose and he chose us. He chose his brothers over his own wife. Anika told him the truth, still he signed those papers. He picked up that pen because you fueled Rudra, and I like a oblivious fool let my cards fall into your hands. I must say you play a good bluff, you had me fooled the entire time." Sarcasm dropped from him voice.
"Om, I did not come here to talk about your brothers." Ishana rubbed her hands over her face in frustration. "I came to talk about us."
"There is no us, actually there was never an us...Ishana."
She was baffled by the lack of emotion in his voice. There wasn't even an ounce of affliction as he regarded her, she could have very well been a stranger to him.
No, she was a stranger to him.
All she had been was someone who knew what she had and how to utilize her skills at the right moment. Rarely had been Ishana with him.
Her eyes revealed everything. Her guilt. Her determination. Her love. Her lies. Yet, for the first time he wanted to close his eyes and not look at her. He abhorred the wickedness he saw there, it made him want to hurt her as badly as she had hurt him.
"Ishana, return those files to me." He said, flatly. "You have no right on them."
"You're right, I don't have a right on them. However just because I don't have a right on them does not mean I will return them to you." She was risking it all, but she had no other option than to play the hand she was dealt with.
It took him a moment to understand her hint. "Name your price."
"You." She whispered. "I want Omkara to love Ishana. Not some bela, but Ishana."
-----------------
Omkara and Ishana are absolutely love! I adore their pairing on the show, which was the inspiration behind this short story.
Nothing extravagant, just a bit of wild thinking on the impending future scenes.
