I just happened to stop by this fantastic performance (especially the 2nd half) from one of the Indian Idol contestants Hemachandra, not sure which year and I was wondering if someone from the current contestants has to sing this number, whom would this song suit the best? This is my all-time favorite song, so I am really desperate to see someone take it up in the coming episodes. So, what do you think? Who would that one singer be? Appreciate your two cents...

I've heard Revanth sing the Telugu version of this song, and he was good (haven't heard the original Telugu version).

But I'd have loved to hear Shravan sing this.

Revanth sang it OK but after that, I also heard the original and felt Balu gave the best feel. Unbeatable! Or maybe it was Rahman's recording technique. Whatever. Maybe it is for the best to not attempt these classics, not this one at least. No one can make it sound better perhaps.

Yes, Shravan got a soothing voice. I hate that he only picked classical songs for this contest. He hardly gave a chance for people to assess his other side. Such a good singer but has shown a very little of what he is capable of.

I agree!! Infact on his FB page he's uploaded a jugalbandhi with KB where he sang a little bit of chithiye and he is so good.
Would've loved him to sing more contemporary or atleast songs from the 90's - from films like Bombay, Roja, Dil Se
