I think you also need to look at the fact that these judges have to listen to thousands of people in a day. Some of these people were really bad, even while watching some of the performances on TV you can barely stop yourself from laughing. It is hilarious. To laugh is a spontaneous reaction .Yes, I agree that they did mock a few not so bad ones which was uncalled for but that is probably more for the sake of the TV viewers to increase the TRPs( the long red haired guy and Jigar Kapadia and that young kid who sang some old song were not bad). Some of the situations are quite funny to the viewer and if a person is really that bad they shouln't be trying out in the first place. Some of them were not even good enough to be bathroom singers - forget Indian Idol. The first round elimination was pretty easy for the judges.
Why doesn't Sony do a preelimination of the contestants prior to showing on TV ? What is the criteria for being a participant? Anybody can go ? Is there an application fee?
