Rahul Saxena Interview when He is in II !

Rahul wants to be a singer and what could be a better platform than the Indian Idol. He wants to show the world his talent. He feels that life is full of uncertainties but music has never disappointed him so far.

Do you look at singing as a career?
How can I look at singing as a career till I am dependent on my parents? I want to be a good artist and also earn money. I have come here for the money and the album. The fact that Sony Music is making an album for the top eleven is a huge thing it is giving us a very big exposure. Even if I do not make it to the top I will not give up music. I have a god-gifted talent. I want to be a singer and not an engineer.

How did you come to audition for the Indian Idol?
Vishal, Omkar, Ronkini and I have been friends for sometime. I was not very keen on participating as you see I do not have a dashing personality and I thought it would be a waste of time. I just came along with them to the audition venue and they convinced me to take part. So the next day I came back prepared. Now I think what if did not participate and later I was just seeing the telecast. I would have been very sad. I am happy that I made the decision to audition.

How has all this fame affected you?
This sudden popularity has brought about a change though not in my life style. As I step out I feel different. When I take the local train people recognize me. But with friends it is the same. What are friends for if relationships change? I have a few friends. Today Vishal is here with me in the running. I wish Omkar and Ronkini were here too. Now I am thinking about music more seriously. Otherwise things are the same I am still rooted to the ground. It cannot be another way or else my mother will sort me out.

What about these high lights that you have put on your hair?
I would have never done this if I were not in the Indian Idol. My mother would have killed me. My friends forced me to do this to improve my image. Only my hair has changed not my singing. Anyway during the semi finals the stylist made me dye my hair black again because it was not looking good. Now I have got used to it.

What about this X factor?
: I cannot build my body as there is not enough time for that but I can work on my personality. Confidence is important. I am very confident and comfortable after all I am here today. Sonu Nigam gave me the biggest compliment by saying that I have the caliber to reach the top three. Apart from music I have no other strength, I do not look strong (laughs).

What does all this luxury that comes with Indian Idol mean to you?
All this five star living is not important; the organizers could have put us up anywhere. The important thing is that they are projecting us and giving us exposure. We went to the Immies, which was great. I saw the stage and started thinking what it would be like to stand there and sing. Indian Idol has been preparing us to reach this stage.

What if you get knocked out?
Obviously I will feel bad but I started off with idea of never wanting to be the Indian Idol. I will cross every stage when I get to it. Even during the earlier rounds every day was a step forward. Now I want to reach the top I want to go as high as possible.
