So I was just thinking…. There were 2 books I read years ago where one of the partners dies (after a great love story) and these books were a heavy read. They both had a sequel with a new love interest for the lead that is alive. And no surprises I couldn’t finish the sequel. The authors were not able to make me root for the new couple so I don't know if it was a happy ending or not.

In case anyone wants to know, the books were:

1. I too had a love story/ Can love happen twice

2. Me before you/ After you

I should have known better than to trust the writers to give us even a decent love story of Surya Imlie after brutally killing off Agastya.

I've read both books of 1 and just 1st book of 2 and I had the exact same thought... After their love story ending tragically it seemed too easy for the survivor to move on... Itna asaan thodi hota hai... haan gradually trying to live life and moving on with someone else happens... But it takes a lot of time due to survivor's guilt, internal emotional fight, the fear of losing the memories of the one that got away, the fear of the new love also not lasting, and so much more...

first wala was a real story of the author yaar. I don't know I wasn't able to connect with the sequels when the first books are in my all time top ten. I have cried for weeks after reading the first books.

One of the books with a similar theme which didn't thankfully put down a sequel was A walk to remember. These books moved me so much....

Gul should have known better than to kill off Agastya. Exactly! Agastya was such a beautifully written broken man who had just started healing when his life was cut short for no rhyme and reason smiley19

Nothing much happened today. Imlie tried her best to convince Tayi ji about the name change but she didn’t listen. Surya tried to trick her with changing the name to Yamli (this man has no guts to straight away deny doing this rasam).

Anjali behaved totally like a pick me and told before everyone how she would willingly agree to change her name after marriage. She even told Surya again how Imlie is not wrong but just not suited for his family. Surya ne phir isko suna dia. Tayi is mad at Surya for indirectly supporting his wife. Surya is mad at Imlie for hurting his Tayi amma coz she asked her about what happened in the past.

Turns out Tayi ka son brought home a wife who didn’t follow these rules and then the wife had an affair. Her son killed himself, husband left her after blaming her for the son’s death. Anjali again trying to tell Imlie how she is different from the family and not suited.

Malti and Nirmala went to meet Raghu and ask him if he kniws why Surya married Imlie, he is about to tell them the truth while Chowpaty calls Surya.

Today's episode was good. I am not sure what to expect right now because if the writers want to give coherent screenplay they can give it as was shown in today's episode.

The episode starts with Imlie objecting to having her name changed and thankfully today's dialogues did not feel preachy. Rather it was very emotional the way Imlie said that the name reminds her of her identity. FYI - this is a rasam they sometimes do in Andhra but that is only if the horoscopes don't match up for marital bliss. Tayiji says that she has learned her lesson once and she will not change now and wants to adhere to the old customs. She goes away and locks herself in a room.

Finally we had a scene of Imlie seeing Surya from the window. Sunaina was saying yesterday only that the writers are not utilizing the window - to angaan and today we have it. Imlie has started to get attached to the family and their issues. She is not that detached as she is portraying herself to be. Surya ka dukh dard effects her and she comes down to ask her the reason. Surya does not say anything and goes away.

Anjali comes there and tells the past. Tayiji's son Raman fell in love with a modern girl called Urvashi and even though Tayiji's husband did not want a working daughter-in-law, the mother agreed to son's demand. Urvashi was a working women and after sometime she fell in love with a colleague in her office. After getting to know of the affair of his wife, Raman shoots himself and dies. Tayiji's husband blames her for their son's death and leaves Tayiji. I thought he left Tayiji way early but looks like he left her after son's death.

I am really surprised here because the team did get extras to shoot for Raman and Urvashi's part and the story kind of makes sense now.

Here Malti and Nirmala go to Jail to ask Raghu the reason for Surya marrying Imlie. Seriously what kind of mother is Nirmala - She is still harping on Imlie even when Raghu was threatening to kill Malti. Tripathi sees this and calls someone (I think it is Surya).

So today's episode was done well. I was hooked on for the 21 mins and now looks like the truth of why Surya married Imlie will be out by Thursday. If the team wants to they can actually give a coherent screenplay so why are they not putting in some effort to at least give a decent story.

I kind of liked today's episode because it was at the least logical. Since I come from Andhra I do know that they have this name change rasam sometimes if there is kalesh in the house after marriage. But it is not this rigidly followed. Like my friend ka name was changed because Bharathi was not working out it seems so they changed to Bhagya. But her co-sisters ka did not have to be changed.

Also the few scenes of Raman and Urvashi was authentically shown (especially the marriage attire - full telugu marriage groom and wife) and the big thing is they did hire some extras to shoot this sequence.

Now with the past story in the picture it kind of makes sense why Surya is that attached to Tayiji - Tayiji lost both her husband and her son and she found solace in the adopted child. Nirmala never had any affection for Surya so Surya too replaced Tayiji as his mother. That is why he does not want to hurt Tayiji - Surya earlier was trying to get Nirmala to listen to him but when Nirmala did not even give him any bhaav he felt bad but he was not disturbed. I think Surya is close only to Tayiji and then to Malti (as there were some childhood flashbacks).

So we kind of have the family dynamics given out now and even though Imlie says that she is not going to stay there for more than 1 year she is definitely getting dragged into the relationships and is getting affected. She couldn't stand there and see Surya in distress and came down to talk to him.

I have read both.. And I agree.. the concept isn't great to digest..

But then, I did see a lot of Asian movies back then in college, and usme bhi one of the main leads used to die.. Uske baad se, I decided, I will first check the review to see if the movie/ book has a happy ending, and then only, will consume the content.. 😂

Saved a lot of tears and heart break.. But ye Imlie3 toh running show tha.. and isme aisa predict kar bhi nai sakte.. What Gul did was out of the ordinary for sure...cos it was too soon.. they still could have milked a lot of more content from Agaslie....
