But the pea is a very small vegetable so if we are gonna go by reading intent from its name then that means this bird has a teeny tiny appendage as small as a pea which probably hinders it in its performance. It therefore follows that for species survival it adapts and adopts new ways of reproducing thus reproduction by tears. To add to this argument that's why the peacock has such an attractive tail, it's to compensate for it's lack in size in its appendage.
