That is their core even now right. Adi's biggest contention even now is that she has made someone else as "apna", who she considers to be more important than him, while Imlie feels that her relationship with Adi has come to this point because he trusted Malini's words more than hers. Dono apne apne MU main ek dusre ko hurt karne par tule hai, lekin while Adi is literally dying like he was the last time as well, Imlie's hurt this time around somewhat has gotten lost in her becoming her new "mentor's parrot". Pichle baar Imlie's MU lead to her believing the worst of Adi, all thanks to AC, while this time Adi is believing the worst of Imlie all thanks to both MC & Imlie's own actions. Last time Imlie's MU was very contrived, because Adi at every point was continuously telling her to come back home and sort things out, but then she wanted to protect Malini. This time around Adi's MU is because Imlie refused to keep that communication open between them, despite Adi trying multiple times to get them on the same page & seeing Imlie's flip flopping and mentor worship, which has given us viewers as much of a disconnect that Adi is also feeling.
Adi's only contention ever was to ensure that Imlie was fine, around him and given the respect she deserves. Ever since he expressed his feelings for her, he has tried his level best to make sure that she be comfortable in her environment & fought with his family, his best friend and even with the the world, to give her the respect she deserved, just like she promised. But right now Imlie is being hailed, because she chose to walk out of a relationship, but still expected that Adi heel to her demands because she said so. That she has sacrificed so much cannot be denied, but similarly that Adi has been with her in that journey at every step of the way cannot be negated either. Right now her words want to show that she alone has done everything, while forgetting that even the work that she takes so much pride in today, jiske balbute pe itna itara rahi hai, that has given her the "mentor" that she prizes so much, woh bhi Adi ki wajah se hi hai. He was the one that inspired her to take up journalism, because he felt she has the spark required to excel in that field and trained her to understand the basics of how to go about this career she has chosen, but she wants to forget all that and just remember the hurt he inflicted, being blinded by her "mentor's" words about moving on from toxic relationships.
