The purpose of the Adi-Imlie convo scene was
1. To make it clear to the audience that Adi has totally moved on from his relationship from Malini & wants to be with Imlie only.
2. To show Imlie's own dilemma regarding the sacrifice that she is determined to make for Malini's happiness.
Adi is in no dilemma regarding whom he wants to be with. Yes, he doesn't want to hurt Malini or see her in pain but he knows that it is inevitable. He doesn't want to sacrifice his love for Imlie just for the sake of Malini's happiness.
Imlie is the one who actually is having the dilemma of wanting to do the right thing as per her own beliefs & wanting her own happiness with Adi. She has always been able to sacrifice her own happiness & needs for others before so she made the resolution to do the same in case of her love ie. letting go of Adi's love for her as well as her own love for him for the sake of Malini's happiness. But she is finding out that it is not as simple as that.
Imlie is struggling with her own wants & desire to be Adi's love & wife. She is not able to do the right thing as she always has been able to do so far in her life. She wants Adi to be with Malini for Malini's sake but she is not able to bear the pain & hurt that it is causing her. Hence she is crying all the time & praying to SM to give her strength to carry forward with her decision. But she has met her match in Adi.
Adi knows what he wants & he also knows that Imlie wants the same thing despite what she is actually saying. He is at an advantage here because he knows he cannot be moved from his stance but Imlie is struggling with her stance so he is going to use all saam, dand, bhed to make her realise the futility of her own sacrifice. He clearly told her today even if she sacrifices he is not willing to give anything to Malini & Malini would still be unhappy. Today their discussion ended on a stalemate with Imlie asking him what should be done now & Adi telling her to drink the chai sarcastically & leave everything on destiny for now.
Adi said that to her but clearly he believes that destiny is on his side beacuse he has realised that destiny has always wanted to unite him & Imlie. That is why when Nishant told him that he should be supporting the partner who has been destined for him, Adi said that he is trying to do that only....Imlie is his destined partner.
We will be getting many such attempts of Adi to break Imlie's resolve regarding sacrificing themselves. Today he was being relatively patient with Imlie in trying to make her understand but each time that she refuses, he will lose his patience & then will do some kaand to force the issue😆.
He is already behaving carelessly in front of others doing the bare minimum to keep off the suspicions from rising because he actually doesn't care if the truth does come out😎😆. He is ready for the truth to come out, face the consequences, so he can move forward with Imlie in his life. But he also wants Imlie to be ready for the consequences. Because if she is not ready even to admit that she actually wants to be with him despite the consequences that they would face, then she would be ready to easily sacrifice when they will face the pressure from Malini, Tripathis & Chaturvedis. Hence his attempts to samjhao her & get her on the same side of the argument as his own.
But now with Malini asking him for a baby, BS's already abysmal level of patience is going to evaporate rapidly & he is going to go full nuclear. He will blast on Malini for sure, but he will not listen to Imlie at all. He is going to do something reckless & force the truth to come out. Fun times are ahead for us watching BS phailaoing more raita in order to sameto the current raita😆.
