I love that line. I recently started watching from first episode, it goes something like this:

Agar jeevan saathi galat ho to jeevan pinjara ban jata hai aur agar woh sahi ho to rishta pankh ban jata hai.

BS hit the nail on head. He didn't know at that time that he is telling to his future wife. Give her new perspective about her view regarding marriage/relationship. Babu saheb waise bhi patrakar hai. Words ke saath khelna unhe acchi tarah se aata hai.

In simple words Imlie's silence,absence, ignorance towards Adi completely pierced his soul and suffocated his life.

2. Without Imlie he wouldn't be able to survive. In hostel, he said that without her he can't focus, think and live. Imlie is his soul. His heart will stop beating if Imlie disappear from his life. Do Dil Ek Jaan.❤️❤️
