I ask this question because I personally know both kinds of people who like it a lot and those who hate it.

I personally hate sexual stuff so this was definitely not my cup of tea., but I want to know the opinion of fans or non-fans to know what they think and why they like it and why they do not

Havent read the books...saw the movies, I feel part 1 has too much of the intimate stuff and it actually took away from their love story, so much that i didnt feel as much love between them as i should feel. Part 2 still has little more focus on their emotional bond n is better then 1.

Haven't read the books

but yes i do love the movies

why people consider it as taboo sort of movie i don't know?

People like sadists live in reality...the movie is a story about a sadist and how he changes due to love which is beautiful

but people have habits of turning every different movie into a big issue and create controversies...

If one doesn't like it, don't watch! Simple as that...but don't dare decide whether an entire country can watch or not...that is like snatching the freedom of a national audience.
